Hi all help me with a mod please

I joined a while back and I've been using a vv spinner with a Kanger Tech top

I now want an upgrade and I want to buy a mod

My friend has a really good one but he's ordered parts for it from everywhere including Fasttech and EBay, is this necessary? It seems like a lot of fuss, can I get a decent one here without paying through the nose?

Myepack have plenty of affordable mods...Mind that you need to invest in a good charger and batteries if you want any tube mod.What type of mod you would like,tube,box?Also would help if we know how much you willing to pay for a mod.
Probably best move from your spinner will be ISTICK.

I don't really have a budget because I don't know how much mods are, my mate said his came to about 40 quid. That was with batteries and charger

Do you want variable voltage/wattage or are you going for a simple mechanical mod?

Maybe is a good idea to look on Fasttech site what kind of mod you like and then search for UK vendors that have this mod in reasonable price.If you buy from Fasttech you will need to wait about 2 weeks to arrive.Just don't buy batteries and charger from there.

Ah - you say that now. I think we all start with a tube mod. Trouble is, they are bulky if they are regulated (variable watts). I use mechanicals, no wires or chip, ad they are small. But for regulated, I have a box. Doesn't fall over when you put it down and it's tiny.

here's a mech mod with batteries and a dripper. Just stick your favourite atty on top and off you go. Can get a nitecore charger for £16 on ebay

Definitely +1 for the mech. Especially if you want to take it out anywhere or have a tendency to drop things. They're virtually indestructible, cheap, compact and pack a punch. They allow you far more versatility when it comes to builds as you can go way below the 1ohm coils (battery allowing) most regulated mechs will allow. You MUST make sure you have a high discharge battery ie sony vct3/vct4/vct5 etc if you plan to do this though.

I have 0.4ohm builds in both my kraken and rose v2 which kick out plumes of vapour sat on a maraxus mod with vct3'3. My vamo can't compete!

and please make sure you read up on battery safety, and if you are thinking of making your own coils, then you need to know about ohm's law and get a resistance meter.

My mind is boggled with all the talk of resistance meters etc, can't I just buy the full kit?

I want as little maintenance as possible.

I would put a wanted add up in the classified section asking for a complete set up, ready to go and see what you get. Many members have draws, boxes, spare rooms FULL of surplus gear.

I must say though the kraken is the lowest maintenance atty I have. I have only changed the coil once in 6 months. Other than that it's just sticking a new piece of cotton in once a week.

It doesn't sound like a mech mod (tube) is right for you atm, i'd stick with a regulated mod. The world of mech mods is filled with danger and pitfalls for the uneducated.

Just so that OP's head doesn't get completely in a twist here's a quick guide to the options available to you and some of the positives and negatives with each one.

Mech Mod: e.g Nemesis, Panzer, 4nine etc. These are metal tube mods that use rechargeable lithium batteries and you will need to buy the mod, batteries and charger.

Generally a tube but sometimes a box.
No regulation (chip or screen).
Cannot adjust the power.
Needs ohms law, coil building and battery safety knowledge.
Simple mod - not a lot to go wrong with them.
Hard hitting.
***DANGEROUS IN THE WRONG HANDS***

Regulated Box Mod: e.g Sigelei 100w+, 50W, IPV2/3, God Mod etc. Like the Mech mods above, you will need to buy batteries and a charger.

Has regulation, can change the power output etc
Has screen and chip.
Needs ohms law, coil building and battery safety knowledge.
More complex, dislike being dropped.
Hard hitting if you want it.
Huge power available

Regulated batteries: Mods where the batteries cannot be removed and charging is often via a USB cable. eg. iStick
Has regulation, can change the power output etc
Has screen and chip.
No requirement for knowledge of ohms law etc as the battery will not fire a dangerous atomiser / coil resistance.
Restricted power.
