Aspire Premium kit pig in a poke?

Hi everyone not had time to surf around here for eons sorry.

Finally had the urge to upgrade from CE5 & Ego T set up and after great deliberation, settled for the Aspire Premium kit.

It arrived on Tuesday, fabulous I thought what an amazing difference until by Wednesday evening I was experiencing popping, crackling and explosive shots of juice into the mouth with the occasional battery switching from blue to orange and back again, almost as if it was going to cut off. Checked, no leakage on battery terminal - ok. Played with air vent on various settings and voltage on various settings. Originally it worked fine on third air hole and 4.3v.

So after faffing I contacted seller to see if they knew what I could be doing wrong. The reply "sounds like the coil head, some will last a day, some will last a week"

REALLY? A coil per day on one of the more recent inventions!

Worst thing is as I was delighted on the first day, I bought another for hubby which is currently winging its way to us in the post. What a waste of £170 ish for them both and all the extra hardware stuff I bought.

Gutted aint the word, that amount of cash would have lasted at least 6 months with the trusty Ce5/ego-t.

If anyone can suggest a solution I would be eternally grateful, the stinkies are looking more a attractive by the minute, at least they are simple you light em up - they burn!

Which Premium kit did you get, as different vendors have different ideas as to what 'premium' is?

If the battery is VV or VW then turn it down a bit. If it's not adjustable then next time you buy heads get some one step higher in resistance.

A happy coil will hiss and occasionally pop, but not spit. Is there any taste or sense of burned juice?

I bought one of these kits back in November for around £38 and have used it daily alongside other bits and pieces and I still have two of the six coils it came with unused, use it around 4 volts and it has never been a problem. When I put a new coil in I always put a few drops of juice on each of the four holes in the side of the coil, leave the tank for 30 minutes when I have just filled it with a new coil in and vape on the lowest power power for the first few draws and I find I get a good four weeks out of each coil in the nautilus mini. I did burn one out when I put it on another mod without turning the wattage down.

Okay, I'm looking at the official kit from Aspire themselves, so will assume that's what you've bought pippin.

The BVC heads from Aspire are great, the only problem is that when they spit, being a vertical coil, it's straight into the airflow. Soooo - you have 2 choices (3 really).
You can turn the volts down til it stops spitting. You can open the airflow so your not pulling so much juice into the head. Or a mix of both.

I bought Aspire premium kit came with mini nautilus tank, 1.8ohm coils, 1000mah CF VV+ battery 3.5v - 4.8v.

I had no problems on first day running at 4.3 with a 70pg/30vg mix. The coil was merrily fizzing but the explosive globs of juice is intolerable. No burned taste but its a bit tingly on tongue now but that may just be chemical burn :-)

I've just stripped it down and put a new coil head in as retailer suggested and noticed in the air chamber quite a bit of moisture. The original coil head seal looked just same as new one and was hand tight. So I'm not convinced it's juice in there, maybe condensation? But that does not explain the juice coming back up the mouth piece.

I've turned it down to 3.8 and got the airflow on the 3rd widest hole. I did try twiddling with the volts and airflow yesterday and nothing made a difference. I thought having it on 4.3 originally may burn off excess juice? Its almost as if the coil was flooding resulting in it ejecting the glob of juice into mouth.

You are all probably going to laugh your socks off but here goes my stupid question......Can I buy a battery device that does all the regulation and fits the mini nautilus or is that another ball game altogether? ???

pippin The Nautilus Mini is the only tank I use and I have a lot of them.

I don't use the coil heads as they come. I recoil them with a microcoil & cotton tape.

My experience of the Minis is that with a little maintenance they are problem free. Before first use I lubricate the threads on the coil heads with Contralube and prime the coil with juice. Each time I fill with juice I remove the drip tip and clean out the top with a cotton bud to remove the condensation. Then remove the base and use the other end of the cotton bud to wipe the inside of the coil head. Fill tank with juice and the another cotton bud to wipe the inside of the upper hardware ( chimney ) and reassemble.

If you keep your used coil heads when you have 10 send them to me and I'll send you back 5 of them drilled out & fitted with a microcoil. I recoiled my first Nautilus heads about 4 months ago and last week I had to redo some of them as the performance had dropped.

Strange thing is I feel like a real vaper now so I want it to work. Soooo much more taste with this than the clearomiser/ego-t kit I had for a year! But don't want to go through a pack of coils every five days!

I'm only on my second head but will message you as I'm sure it won't take long to mess up 10 until I get the hang of this mean spitting machine

Honestly, I've not had one last less than a week and most last at least two weeks. (2 tanks, using them for 5 months)

I really don't think it's your mini Nautilus (well, not right now, anyway) so don't go chucking out atomizers and stuff... there must be an explanation. Your fears about wasted money and needing a 5-pack of coils a week are not going to materialise.... I am confident.

The reality of QC on coil heads means that can happen, and you can get the odd dud out of the box, but still you should expect at least a week or two on average from them.

Have you tried the nautilus on your old ego battery to make sure it is not the new battery failing?

Because to me this makes it sound more like that is going wrong, and thus burning out your coils. If you find this the case then the vendor should replace this straight away.

New coils do spit a bit when brand new, but usually settle down after a few hours of vaping. I have a Nautilus Mini on my iStick which I use during the day when driving, and I have only just changed the supplied coil for a fresh one after nearly two months of almost daily vaping.
Turning down the voltage will certainly make a difference to the amount of power being delivered, and having the airflow quite small will mean that more juice will be vapourised in the mix of vapour and air.
Perhaps open up the airflow a bit and as suggested above ^^^ try some higher rated heads next time.
Keep us posted on the progress - I'm intrigued more than anything

So far so good....following changing the coil. 6hrs after changing the coil so far it's working as good as the first day. I have turned down the voltage to 3.8 on the 1.8ohm coil and so far no spitting. Because I'm eager to test the new coil I have vaped 2ml in 6hrs.

Fingers crossed it was a dud coil

Yes I did suspect the battery at fault as on close examination it didn't appear as squeaky new as it should. There was a fair bit of surface scuffs on the barrel however the tank was crisp. If you know what I mean?

The second kit arrived today, If I have the same problem with the new coil in the next 24hrs, I'm so tempted to try the battery from the second kit? So frustrating....I know things can blip but only I could get the dud amongst the millions made.

I will keep this thread updated, as that is the only way we can make sense of these gadgets. I understand it may be down to user error and have been twiddling the various voltage/air senarios for 2 days. When I say spitting I mean, projectile globules of liquid....even the dog ran for cover!

I saw a post elsewhere on the forum, mentioning the same projectile fluid problem, only his was in the eye. I'm currently being cautious and not looking at the end of the mouth piece, just incase!!

Fingers, eyes and toes crossed for a successful outcome. Vaping 70/30 on 3.8 with 1.8ohm and so far not had a repeat of the 70/30 on 4.3 with 1.8ohm missile attack!

24Hrs on from my last post - here's the update

I changed the coil (spent after less than 36hrs) and must say, so far the vape has gone back to how it was originally in the first 24hrs. So 3.8v on 1.8ohm with 70pg/30vg liquid has so far held out on the second coil, without the globules of liquid ejected in to my mouth.

Soooooo fired up the second same spec device we had ordered for OH and he is chugging 4.3v on 1.8ohm with 70pg/30vg different flavour liquid but same supplierl without issue but then he is only 24hrs into his coil.

What I have noticed is that my battery does not seem to be lasting as long as OH. So maybe it's a battery problem with the initial kit?

I'm going to trial for another few days and if I suspect my battery is at fault, then I will contact supplier and ask for it to be exchanged. Afterall I'm not prepared to go through a battery per day and coil per day despite being a relatively light user.
