Hi! I would have done 4-5 minutes, not 45 minutes myself...but that's no real reason for the coil to be flooded. Popping is good. Gurgling is bad. - - - I hate to say this...but 1.5ohm is dual coil.... in other words 2 x 3.0ohm coils. i.m.o. a single 1.8 could potentially be just as hot. Maybe a 2.2 or even more would make more sense. I always used 1.8ohm single coils and they're pretty feisty. In fact, I now MAKE 1.7ohm coils and they are quite warm too.

Well having looked in to this a lot more since returning from work it appears that pretty much all tanks - at least the latest models - are centred on coils rated at 1.5-1.8 ohms which burn hot, or at least too hot for me.
There are very good reasons why I'm having to at least TRY to give up smoking but this is now becoming a little dispiriting. All I was looking for was a starter kit to try out to see if vaping would be for me and the Evod seemed to tick all the boxes but it doesn't if its too hot to draw in my mouth!
At this stage I'm not into all the techie stuff with VV/VW, adjustable air flow etc, I just want to be able to try vaping! Think I'll have a look at the Protank 2 which runs 2.5 ohm coils unless there are other suggestions?
Cheers!

Hiya Sizzers and to AAEC. Have you tried changing the coil for a new one, sometimes you can get a dodgy coil and changing it may help. Also, make sure everything is screwed together propery, not too tight but not too loose (hand tight) and all sillicone washers are sitted in the right place. The Protank 2 is a decent clearomizer (when working properly), it uses single coils and is a bigger sized tank, but the base (which holds the coil) can sometimes present problems. If you want a smaller form factor clearomiser then the Mini Protank 2 is a great little tank which also takes the Kanger single coils. If you have dual coils then I would suggest a Protank 3 (normal or mini) or Aerotank (normal or mini, and both come with a airflow control valve).
