First of all just like to say what a great forum this is. Only just started vaping and got a skycig kit. its been ok and definately made me cut down onthe real things. however i've sent that back after getting a riva 1100. the remaing skycig cartos fit the riva wich is ok till they run out but i've been reading that you can drip with cartos. would I neef a specific drip tip to do this? Or a certain type of e liquid? Any advice would be most welcome

A drip tip is just used most of the time to make it nicer to vape the carto. You pull the drip tip off the end of the carto and fill around the edges with e-liquid. You can use any e-liquid, but I'm not sure if you can refill the sky cartos, you may need to buy some more. A very big welcome btw

Hi EastBank, A big welcome to the forum.
I am not too familiar with the sky-cig, but I will try to help. You can drip if you have an atomiser and cartridge system, but if you have just got a cartomiser system then unfortunately you cannot drip. If you need to get a drip tip, a standard drip tip will do (you'll need a 510 sized one). Any e-liquid will do for dripping. I hope that helps..... RSR

i started with the VIP and new riva 1100 arrived this morning. filled an old vip carto to try it and it does work with them. but the riva experience is 100 times better than the vip.

Hello and WELCOME Eastbank , Drip tips are used by most vapers just to make the end of a cartomiser feel better in the mouth rather than a "tailpipe" style end on most atomisers and cartridges. Look at the attached picture. If you have an atomiser style arrangement (no filler) you can use a drip tip to drip drops of liquid directly onto the heater coil to vape. The hole in a drip tip is large enough to do this easily. Please ask away, any questions no matter how trivial they may seem

Thanks for the quick replies! Not sure which way to go. Drip/atomisers or cartomisers and are there any brands that are best suited for the riva 1100? price will be an issue to as I don't want to replace one expensive habit for another!

Same here mate, I'm looking to improve my health but another huge factor for me is the cost of smoking 30 cigs a day, which is insane and I just can't afford, so I'm looking to save as substantial amount as possible. From what I've been reading the cartomisers are less hassle and last longer because hey hold more liquid. The Kanger and Boge cartomisers seem to be two of the most popular. Then again I'm a newbie too and still dithering over everything myself!

Ok, The following are compatible with your Riva which is a 510 (thread device). A good place to start is : www.vapeescape.co.uk/kanger-510-sr-cartomisers-horizontal-coil-%285%29~261These are Kangers and my personal preference, they last about 3 - 4 days before needing binning then just simply use a new one. Others prefer these: www.vapeescape.co.uk/boge-510-standard-resistance-%285%29~145Personally I don't think there is that much between them. Once you have mastered these then you can try thingls like lower resistance, dual coils, and CE3's. Start simple, learn as you go and you'll be fine. Drip tips are here: www.vapeescape.co.uk/search.asp?types=Vaping+Spares+%3E+Drip+TipsJust choose one you like the look of that says 510 against it. Get yourself some sampler liquid bottles to try at the same time if you fancy trying new flavours. Don't forget to use the code ALLABOUT to get 10% off of your order. Once you have your ecig (which you have) and you can resist the temptation of buying new things every 5 minutes (hard) then Vaping should cost you between £8 - £12 a week if you were a 20 a day person. We have other great vendors here like Safercigs, Freedomvapes, Paradise Vapes and LOADS more, I can personally recommend all of the above. (sorry if I've missed you off, doing this from my limited memory).

Hi Eastbank and welcome to the forum firstly the cartos you have left over from your skycig can be refilled a few times with e-juice... simply pop the rubber bug off the mouth end with a fork tine or similar and then drop the eliquid onto the filler while avoiding the center tube... should take 20 plus drops but take your time and allow liquid to soak in.
empty replacement cartomisers can be bought and filled with your choice of eliquid from brands like boge and work out way cheaper than the skycig cartos !!!
a drip tip is a tip that replaces the rubber bug that fits in the end of the carto... it simply makes it more comfortable on the lips and easier to remove for refilling

Hi eastbank and another welcome here, Like you I started off with a Skycig kit then upgraded to a Riva on advice from the good peeps here. Night and day, as I'm sure you'll agree As Gordy says, the Skycig cartos can be refilled, but after buying some Boge cartos I ended up just chucking mine, as the flavour and hit were just so much better from the Boges. So far as the choice between Cartridges & Atomizers or Cartomizers goes, I think the consensus would be that cartomizers involve less faffing with refilling and such, and are more cost effective in the long run. When it comes to the difference between Boge and Kanger cartomizers there's not much in it, though I've found the Kangers seem to be less sensitive to flooding if overfilled, and seem more forgiving if vaped too dry. So I'd recommend them rather than the Boge's to relative noobs. I'd also suggest that if you're buying some cartos of whatever type, you also pick up a pack of low resistance (2 ohm) ones to try out. Kanger/Boge standard resistance (3 ohm) = very nice, Kanger/Boge low resistance = very nice with bells on! Also, like Des says, so long as you don't get caught up in buying shiny new stuff all the time (difficult if you read this forum much ), vaping is a good bit cheaper than smoking tabs. Hell, I used to smoke rollies and i'm saving a good chunk. If you smoked ready mades you'll save an absolute bucketload! All the best, John
