Looking for advice on getting a cheap mechanical box mod.

I'm thinking of getting a cheap box mod but the problems with the Cloupor mini have made me think twice about getting another regulated one. Saying that I really love my Smart-20 especially the side fire button. I need something that's powerful enough to cope with my tanks and subohm drippers. I still love my collection of tube mechs but want the feel of the box mod and side or front button, plus being able to take out to the pub, without the worry of putting it down in an unlocked state  , especially after a few sherbets. Could be either 18560 battery or even 26650. If possible under £25-£30 delivered. What do you all recommend. TIA.

The IPV mini although regulated is effectively a mech mod of sorts in DC DC mode. The sigelei is cheaper but has the same chip (yihi so good) and performs in exactly the same way. You can get a sigelei mini for about 35 on myepack, the IPV is a bit bigger but better built imho however goes around the £45 mark.
Just my ten pence worth.

The kato box mod on FastTech, got 2 of these they are superb. You can get 18650 or 18500, both mine are 18650.

I'm not really looking for regulated mods Toondog but thanks for the input and though I like the look of the Kato mods(maybe in the future) they're just not dripper friendly prr . I have been all over fasttech and focalecig and there doesn't really appear to be a lot of choice compared to tube mods. I do like the look of the wooden mods like this Tesla Invader II and it has a positive review. So does anyone have one or know of any problems with it?

I decided in the end to go for a Beast Box Styled Mech at £13.97 from Fasttech. If I don't get on with the clear case I can always paint it or get some of the wrap stuff on Ebay. Price wise there doesn't seem to be any real advantage spending more. They either work or they don't.

durr yer but if he is going sub ohm switches melt lol
do he want dual batts and if so in parallel or series 
what would he prefer it to be made of ie wood or metal

you can use the vtr 510 extender in the kato but the kato is ruddy heavy(ive used mine to build furniture) 

there are some lush single batt wood pistol grip type mods
