Hello!
New here and new to E-Cigarettes,
I primarily want one so my son (9 months old) and wife don't have any ill effects of secondary smoke, almost equally for my own health.
I would like something that looks like a cig (so I don't look like a looney or a mugging target on a night out) and has, I think it is low resistance for a throaty draw. However I have it on good authority that the ones that look like cigarettes are not the best so probably something smallish if not, I can always hide/smoke real ones on the odd night out I have.
Beyond that my wants are lesser but would include easy to use I guess.
I currently smoke Mayfair kingsize (mainly cost and convenience)
Many thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi mstophan and welcome to the forum How many do you smoke a day? That'll give us some idea of what to recommend for you.

Hi mstopham, welcome to the forum Well done for making the decision to try out e-ciggies and what a good motivation for doing it. I am fairly new to the world of vaping as I want to improve my health (sick of wheezing). Like you I wanted something that resembled a real ciggy so after lots of questions I chose the SD Keyring. It is a dinky gadget but has a better battery life than the ones that look like a ciggy. I bought 2 kits, one to use and one on charge. You really need to use standard resistance cartomisers on them but I found they still give a good throat hit As I mentioned I am still new to the world of vaping but I am sure the more experienced on here will be able to advise better than little old me

Hi Mstopham and welcome to AAEC I personally started with a Riva e-cig and although it doesn't look like a cig, it gives me the hit and the battery life I required. I have dabbled with some bigger more expensive gadgets but I've found it's what I started with that I use almost daily. As for getting a juice you like, it's really trial and error. I have spent a small fortune on juice's that I didn't like and finally after 6 months I have settled on a Menthol juice and I never went near a menthol cig when I smoked. I'm sure some of the more experienced members will be able to assist you more. Wish you well on your journey. Nats

I would recommend the ego or riva in a 650mah size for you. If you can afford it a little 510 or kr808 would be better for going out to the pub as an addition to the ego. Though, it's purely aesthetics as the ego is not actually that much longer than a standard 510, it's just fatter, more like a cigar. The 650mah ego can be found here: alba-vapours.co.uk/ego-riva-starter-kit and use "aaecuk" for a 10% discount. The 510 you can pick up for under £15 too: freedomvape.co.uk/shop/article_2002/510-Mini-Starter-Kit.html?shop_param=cid%3D2%26aid%3D2002%26 "JAN15" for 15% off and free shipping You can not use low resistance cartomisers on the little 510 but you can with the 650mah ego. www.vapeescape.co.uk/boge-510-low-resistance-%285%29~146 low resistance 510 cartomisers here, use "allabout" for 10% off. The 650mah ego is pocketable if you want to take it with you to the pub for a backup to something smaller like the 510. Closer to real cigarette ecigs exist, but the one I ususally recommend is out of stock so here's the kr808d-1 model (better than 510 model but marginally) www.jacvapour.com/E-cigarette_Kits-Starter_kits_without_PCC.html ECR69 for 10% off though. That's just to show you what it looks like, you can get them in white colour with some tan cartomisers. I prefer the kr808d-1 over the 510 but like I said it's not that big a difference. I'm going to start looking for cheap kr808d-1 models so I might post up another model if I find it for what should be a lot less than jacvapour sell them for. Edit: ah here we go, safercigs does it again www.safercigs.co.uk/Intro_Vapour_24MG_B_H/p705283_4164248.aspx smaller kr808 battery I think, just one though. Use "allaboute" for 10% off. I'd expect about 1 hour to an hour and a half out of that one battery so no doubt you'd want a pair of them to take to the pub. Much more cigarette looking than the 510 and a little cheaper to get a pair.

Hi blakey I tend to smoke 6 - 8 daily but more like 10 - 15 if I go out drinking, though that is only about once a month if that at present since the little one arrived.
Hi Tinkerbella, thanks for the recommendation, I will have a look at the SD keyring Hi monster74, again thanks for the recommendation, I will have to wait and see but generally I would smoke anything (including Menthol) I used to smoke Regal/Embassy and Bensons when I was cash rich and no responsibilities had a spell on Superkings black as well so it is more about the nicotine hit than flavour but obviously I am not sure what's what with Vaping yet!

Tinkerbella's suggestion seems to be the one to go for here www.vapeescape.co.uk/the-sd-keyring-ecig~266 the battery would more than last you the day for what you need. I f you smoked 15-20 every day then the riva would be Ideal for you as leftfield suggested

Hello & welcome Mstophan Some excellent suggestions & I agree with Blakey, as you are a light smoker, the key ring or the Intro vapour (suggested by Leftfield) should be OK for you. As both only come with the one battery, it would be best to get a second kit once you know you are happy with your choice As also, already mentioned, you can not use LR (Lower resistance) cartomisers on the small battery e-cigs.

Welcome mstopham.
Regardless of what you buy, I still woudn't vape in the same room as a young baby..
There is not enough research done in the field to fully understand the effect of second hand nicotine laden vape especially on young children.

Hi mstopham and welcome to the forum and indeed the world of vaping I would grab a SD keyring and see how you get on. its a tiny device but packs a nice punch, if you feel you need a bigger hit then you could have a look at an ego/riva type device

Hello & Here's the link to the SD keyring www.vapeescape.co.uk/the-sd-keyring-ecig~266I'd also get a couple of "samplers" of e-liquid to try here: www.vapeescape.co.uk/grizwald%27s-5ml-samplers~292 No e-liquid will taste the same as a cigarette, a lot of people start with tobacco flavours then move to more adventurous flavours, I used to smoke 20 a day but now happily vape Cherry Menthol all day. It really is trial and error as peoples tastes are very subjective. And i'd recommend a drip tip, it just makes the end feel better in the mouth rather than sucking on the blunt end of a cartomiser, the SD keyring is a "510 threaded device" so if you want to move up to a Riva or something else later your cartomisers will fit here : www.vapeescape.co.uk/search.asp?types=Vaping+Spares+%3E+Drip+TipsUse the code allabout for a 10% discount, Happy Vaping!

Thanks for the welcomes!
maccafan - thanks for the warning, I have no intention of even using the device even in front of the little one so won't be same room either.
After reading the advice and people suggesting maybe upgrading to the ego-riva later I decided to skip the later and make that now! Ordered yesterday and arrived today. It is currently on it's initial 8 hour charge.
I worked out how to put it together and think I understand how to use it once charged but I do have a (probably) silly question. It came with 10 cartridges and a little bottle of liquid. The instructions state that each cartridge is single use, however nothing I could see on filling the cartridge with the liquid first.
So do I need to do this and any advice on how it is done? Couple of drops in it, pippette or syringe or similar? Liquid in a dish and soak it?
Many thanks in advance, looking forward to not having that smoke smell by tomorrow!

Many thanks in advance, looking forward to not having that smoke smell by tomorrow! First off you do not need to charge it for 8 hours, put one battery on charge and use the other one, it comes with a factory charge. Do you know if you have Atomisers (one piece with thread and metal gubbins inside plus another mouthpiece with wadding in) or do you have cartomisers one piece with a white bung in one end and a thread on the other? If it's the latter look at the top of the page at the writing in purple and go to the "new to ecigs" link and look at the bottom post on how to fill for how to fill cartomisers. Or the second one down if you have the 2 piece atomiser/cartridge. let us know how you get on
