Just to be clear - you are using in ni200 nickel wire not pure nickel? Evolv chip calibrated for ni200 only not nil res nickel. My VaporShark rDNA 40 works well with this. Ni200 is just a spec that says > 99.2 % pure nickel, pure nickel is fine for DNA40.Nickel 200/201 is most widely used grade, generally specified for transistor caps, anodes for electronic tubes, leads of electronic components / Lead-in-Wires for lamps and for Wire-Mesh. Also used in strip form for various applications including Ni-Cd batteries.

Yeah i was using ni200 from wireandstuff.co.uk, 0.35mm 27awg. Just a bad clone chip mate, and by that i mean my one was bad in this device i have no idea if it's an issue with this entire run of chips they used. I tend to think not or we likely would have heard from others with the same issue.

In correspondence with them they stated that pure nickel wire has a different resistivity/temperature curve and so is not compatible.

Evolv should really make it clear publicly as they say the oppersite here @14:00 "commercially pure nickel" wich includes Ni200, I think the important part is the min percentage nickel.

Pure Nickel is defined as 99.2% or better, and ni200 is classed as non resistance wire, so I don't know where this is going, nor understand why!!
All metals, no matter how pure, have a resistance. Looking at the specs Pure Nickel (>99.19%) has the same resistivity as Ni200 wire. You won't find pure Nickel wire anywhere except laboratories, and even then it's only 99.7% Nickel.

Maybe there are people selling very very vary low grade "pure nickel" and they want users to avoid problems with that, the stuff I have is > 99.8% nickel (well that's what VM Co claimed).

Sorry, I edited some info in VapingBad. You use lab grade Nickel Wire?

Evolv do make it clear on the data sheet. Crystal clear. Horses mouth not 3rd party. Then again it's "Just a specification".

Sorry, I edited some info in VapingBad. You use lab grade Nickel Wire? According to Vape Mesh Co its 99.9%+ pure link So according to the info presented anything 99.2% and above is pure as far as Nickel is concerned. tbh I can't see 0.8% impurities affecting the lattice of Nickel molecules that much, so it's believable. I'll go in my notes and dig out the charts from my BS days. ETA: I know it's not at me m8, we get some good discussion going sometimes

Requires a heating coil made from Nickel 200 alloy seems clear to me.

The disagreement was the statement that you 'can't use pure Nickel' - debunked.
The fact that 'absolutely pure' Nickel is unstable under normal conditions explains the need for something else to stabalise it.
