The old workplace had given me £75 in Sainsburys gift vouchers. That'd be Xmas before last, and still unspent, so tonight was the shopping night when Lidl would see me not. After a good wander up and down the unfamiliar aisles, putting more into the basket than would ever think of doing, getting to the till and buying 5 bags (at 40p each what a rip!), the total to be paid was... £76.20. So I'd had a trip to el Sainsberries, and spent £1.20. That's a first (almost definitely a last too)

I did get some of those Patak's paste jars, love those things, but only the supermarkets sell them now - everywhere else is pour on sauces, a mega rip off when a wee jar of paste lasts ages! A jar each of rogan josh, jalfrezi, and madras. I fear the winds of change are coming...

Lovely . . . not like spending ' proper ' money Dave, enjoy - even if you didn't care for the surroundings!

Wifey has bought these 'spice packs'. Basically curry powders and spices in packs, you add onions, tomatoes, meat etc... add the spices. I was sceptical at first but I tell you what, they are amazing. Will find out what they are as I think they were pretty dirt cheap too. Best curries Ive had in ages!

My ma got free first class return anywhere on east coast trains (i.e. London to Scotland - £200+ each way) for just complaining to chief exec (And a few calls and emails) about a train being 3 hours late Tease-smiley
