You don't need to rebuild a genny when it gets clogged, just dry-burn and steam or ultra sonic clean and it's good as new, with thick kanthal the build will last many months even a year. Although I'm finding 0.16 mm nickel only lasts just over a month of 10 ml a day vaping 32-40 W, but I'm the still reusing the wicks.
New things tend to come in batches ATM it sub-ohm tanks, small vw box mods and temp limiting, if you have one that works for you in the category then there is not so much to be gained by getting a different one.

I'm sitting here with my MVP/aerotank combo and it still works great, I love my Hana/Rose and my Cloupor mini/aerotank and my Nemmy/Magma but I know what you mean, sometimes it's nice to just sit back and...... VAPE

i vape about 15ml of juice a day and do a coil re wick session about once a week, quite common for me to get a backlog of about 5-6 clogged up atties and to go back to my bread and butter, my aerotank, I stick and pre made coils...... Emperors new cloths, no, more it will just will do for now......
Until the subtank...now I just stick a coil in one of them (temp as well now) until I can be bothered to clean, coil and wick without sacrificing my vape...

This is for a genesis with steel wicks, on a new coil I pulse at 400 F, 500 F and 600 F the first two to find any shorts, the 600 F starts to get the wire used to the heat, then turn temp off and go up in watts form 18 to 28 to finish. For cleaning I just do 600 F then turn temp off. Without a wick in I would keep the watts down so it only glowed dark orange for cleaning, I have a tipple twisted 0.16 mm Orchid build I have dry burned about 3 or 4 times, but once I realised that I was building a too small coil (temp limit cutting in to much 410 F 15 W) and built a suitable coils they stay clean about 3 times longer than an equivalent Kanthal coil which need a new wick every tank. Tasting nickel, you mean a metal taste could be a short between loops, even if not moving a nickel coil can alter the way the glows/heats I always get them glowing dark orange before putting the new wick in .

I want a car that will do 200 mpg and 0 to 60 in under 7 secs, maybe one day, but I not holding my breath. E: I think the coil will be the first to go, but something like a wick will be around longer as the liquid feed will always get gunked up near the heat source.

Thanks for the reply vaping, yes I might just be me moving a loop while stripping out old and can also understand with your builds why it worth doing the cleaning/burning but for me if I need to re wick, after I have stripped and cleaned for a single coil I might as well stick another in. just every time I have tried cleaning/burning nickel for me (maybe placebo now) it just didn't taste "clean" thereafter . Kanthal, fine just glow and re wick..

I've got loads of crap stuff at home, and the best vape I get is with an original Mini Pro Tank with an NV coil and an Ego-C twist.

Been reading around various vaping forums this week (week off work ) and rightly or wrongly found it a bit concerning the amount of new vapers jumping straight in to things like a sub tank without understanding the basics of vaping. I don't even pretend to understand loads of this stuff myself - I know what set ups work for me and have been pretty happy, learning as I went along through experience, you tube and help of forum members. When I started vaping (which was only a year ago) sub ohming had it's niche section/enthusiasts who all learnt about ohms law, battery safety, various coils/wire etc etc after moving up through the ranks. I realise the subtank is not just for sub ohming but do other brand new vapers realise that? It's probably just me worrying, but it's the same with things like building pc's and overclocking (which I know nothing about). I wouldn't jump straight into doing that if I'd never even owned a pc before. I suppose I just feel concerned after reading so many posts on new user sections over the last few days (not talking about here), from new vapers who haven't started on basic gear and so don't yet understood the basic things that we all need to know before progressing on. And as for the original question - I do like shiney things but am happy with the level of kit I own, maybe buying the odd new thing here and there (including stuff on FT that I don't need.) Diy/mixing is what seems to have suckered me in - MUST STOP BUYING CONCENTRATES!!!!

Granted....BUT....This is True For Your Tobacco Flavour Liquid:- Sadly Not For My Home-Brew Steeps! eg. Mesh/Rope Ends Up Wiv a Brown Residue After Going Back in the Flame on the Gas Hob! Ditto Coil After Dry-Burning...Steam Don't Remove the Black Coating.....Nor Does a Wire Brush in a Dremel-Type Drill on Slowest Setting!! I Can Get My Gennies Re-Wicking & Producing the Vapour Again After These Clean-Ups, So the Longevity of a Build is Assured.......But the Flavour is Tainted.....Unless I Re-Coil & Re-Wick Again.

The main problem is they WANT to do it, and may often take criticism personally. A few may do it anyway just to spite those giving the advice. I won't criticise anyone for anything they may want to try unless it is totally unsafe/dangerous/unhealthy. It's up to us to help, teach and guide them. Disuasion may just leave them feeling as if they've been attacked for their interest, and may cause them to leave this forum and put them out of reach of our help. There's nothing 'elite' about sub-ohming, especially since the release of off-the-shelf sub-ohm atomizers. All that's needed is a grasp of the maths and some common sense. Oh, and someone to watch over them. Sorry for the distraction, just a point I've wanted to make for a while. Vape safe!!

some see it as a hobby and others just a means to an end, both options are viable Exactly this . . . there's no right or wrong, it's what suits you, your personality & budget - and keeps you from sparking up. The availability of goodies from China has meant that many of us can afford to experiment with new equipment at a reasonable cost, which we might not have been able to otherwise. Which is all good in my book if it's done with knowledge & safety. Personally, even with the shopping temptations I spend vastly less than I did on smoking. I have the pleasure of the ' shop ', trying new goodies . . . all without smoking. What's not to rejoice in. Forums can have the tendency to be places for ' hobbyists ' so it may appear that every vaper is sub-ohming/iSticking etc . . . in reality we are probably a tiny percentage of the ecig market. I'm guessing you banned The shopping Queen from the discussions Dream on Greg.
