As above. At first I thought it was leaking via the air holes due to not enough wick. But on further investigation I found that it is leaking from the bottom of the glass insert. It doesn't seem to seal on the thin o ring that should seal it in the metal barrel. One top and bottom. When assembled the glass turns quite easily. Maybe it needs a thicker o ring, or another one added. Anyone know where to get spare o rings? Or how to fix this? I got it from Fasttech originally. The first build it didn't leak, but after that leaks like a sieve. So unusable at present as all the juice runs out. You can see the o ring in the barrel on the left. There is another that sits on top of the glass tube.

No chips in the glass and there is an o ring top and bottom. I just wonder if the glass tube has been cut ever so slightly small. Half a millimeter makes all the difference I can well imagine. So it's not pressing on the o rings. The only solution I can think of is to put in a fatter o ring or double up on one end.

It's strange though that it worked fine on the first build, so obviously it was sealing fine then. Glass doesn't shrink and I presume you tried the glass tank both ways in the casing. Could there have been two rings on top or bottom and one of them got mislaid? Not a lot of help I'm afraid.

I'm fairly sure there were only one ring top and bottom. I don't know if I put the glass tube in the other way round. It looks the same on both ends. But I must check if the ends are truly square. Maybe one end isn't?

I think I have figured out the problem. One end of the tube is not flat. And I can rock it ever so slightly on a flat surface. The other end is perfectly flat. So assembled it with the flat end down, and so far it doesn't seem to leak. Thanks sydsut your comment seems to have solved it.

Now I just need to master coiling. I did one that looked fine, but it's reading .66 ohm!

Glad youve sussed it bob. If you need to plump the 'O' rings out a bit, a ring of dental floss in the groove before refitting the O ring sometimes helps in some situations.

It's still not leaking so obviously needs to be reassembled in the same way each time. Clearly just that little bit of variation is enough to cause a major leak. Strange it doesn't leak at the top, even when laid on it's side. But it's not so all is good. I just need to be mindful when I do dissassemble. Good idea the dental floss phtumshk
