I am still learning about Erl Clones * - if your mod is not firing with it is going to be the centre pin on the mod/ego/cigalike that needs lifting/adjusting just a tad * - if this is not possible try adjusting the AFC on the bottom of the Erl clone (air flow whatsit) - temporary fix but you really need to adjust that centre pin on your mod * - Erl clone does and can 'wobble' after a while on the connection. To fix this you screw in the centre pin at the bottom a little and only after you've tried adjusting the Air flow at no point in time do you actually take out the centre pin. Guaranteed shorts when you put it back in (I destroyed one a week ago via this method! ) If it gets too gunked up I have no idea. They are cheap as chips from china. As always with all things e-cig - backups for backups Jane PS. tagging ceedee decoy for any other tips

Still confused about the shorts you've been getting. I'm down to the last dribble of juice in one of my Minis so I'll break it down completely later for a full examination.
And which bits are you concerned about getting gunked up? (I don't use the black AFC ring and just soak the entire Mini base in hot water for 10mins and rinse every couple of weeks.)

I have 2 different erl clones. The mini I had from FT is the 1 where the deck is held in by the insulator, and center pin is adjustable, deck is rock solid. The 2nd I bought off the classifieds (full size) & is the 1 where the center pin holds the deck in and is non adjustable, unless the screw is tight the deck will wobble. If the screw has been over tightened and sunk into the insulator I presume there will be some connection issues with non spring loaded 510s.

Actually I had to tighten the centre pin to reduce wobble having tried adjusting the AFC phtumshk. After taking my first erl clone all apart last week and getting repeated shorts or OP (no resistance, no connection) on the Provari am reluctant to do that again and the odd short (shown by wire burning to bits near pin) I read the gunking thing of ECF (see earlier posts)...that was so last week

I had major grief with my first mini as it was all loose, when the tank was screwed on tight to a device it was shorting , but wind it back a tad (tank moved, deck stayed put) it would un short itself. Having scanned the ECF post the nut there talking about is actually the white insulator piece. If you can remove the screw and have a look see if theres are a couple of cut outs in the insulator to accept a flat blade screw driver to tighten the deck. If no cut outs then its the screw that keeps the deck tight. Hope this is helping and not confusing.

So knackered I can't see straight so pulling apart my Mini Erl is going to have to wait until the morning. phtumshk isn't that white insulator supposed to be the other way up? You can just about make it out in this graphic: (Erkoenigin have helpfully reorganised their website and removed several really useful illustrations. *grump*)

there are 2 types of clones with and without adjustable center pin
the insularor he means is the white one in his pic that has 2 slots in it (his is adjustable) on the none adjustable the insulator is the same except for the slots and as soon as you touch the center pin on these it likes to short across the deck because its soooo close number 4 in the pic is the bit he says might be in wrong way round

It will only go in 1 way. Its a much better design than the other clone with just the screw holding it all in place. Best way ive found to do that 1 is to lock the afc as tight as possible loosely put the screw in and check for short then if its ok i do the screw up hela tight. 9 times out of 10 its kept it in place, then undo the afc. Now when I build it I put the blade of a screw driver between the posi deck part and the neg part to stop it moving when doing up the coil retaining screws.

Talkin' of experts... After a thorough clean, I removed the 510 screw, the tiny o-ring I'd put in previously and unscrewed the white insulator (just like in phtumshk's photo) to clean around the positive post on the deck. Everything went back together smoothly so I took some 'before and after' photos, stuck a humungous coil on and checked the resistance was good at 1.2ohms. Congratulating myself, I stuffed it with plenty of rayon and filled it up with some delicous-smelling chocolate/cocoa juice. A final check on the meter showed 1.24ohms so transferred it to my old Hana box. And.... The impedence is wobbling around anywhere from 1.2 up to 4.3ohms! I've emptied the tank, rinsed it out and now waiting for it to dry off before having another look. I'm hoping it's just the enormous guage kanthal that's worked it's way loose from the tiny terminal screws. Talk about a bleeding learning curve, eh?

try putting a clapton coil on one tbh anything above .25 wire is pushing it you can just get away with .30 but no more it just wont hold it

Awe I gave myself enough headaches online shopping tonight ceedee now I have passed the Erl clone headache onto you Might be your mod needs a clean rather than the Erl clone. Just clean in the connector with a cotton bud/q tip and some vodka...might stop the resistances flinging?
