The official width of the 50w is 23mm though I don't own one it appears to have a slight bevel at the top, I imagine this will taper to 22mm as that is one of the "standard" tank sizes. The subtank mini is 22mm (which I do own) so imagine it would fit just nice, Though someone who owns both might be better placed to tell you just how much that bevel is.

I can't remember if paulymeatballs used a Mini in this review or not . . . but he'd probably be able to say for certain.
