So we have an American Journalist, living in Scotland, whose only qualification is an Arts Degree, commenting regarding e-cigarettes and Scottish health policy - and selling it to whoever will buy it.
POOR SHOW The Guardian and anyone else buying this tripe.

Thanks for the link Ron. Reading through a few of his previous articles it's clear to me he looks at, and writes about everything as an American. Nothing against Americans - well not all of them!!

Which doctors? Or should i say witch doctors?
The most concentrated nicotine solution that is legal to sell and buy in the UK is 72mg per 100ml. Even the official toxicity level figures which were calculated in the 19th century put the lower lethal dose limit at 60mg of nicotine. I'm no math expert but i do have a calculator and i work it out that you would need 83.33ml of the strongest undiluted solution you can legally buy in order to reach the 60mg dose. How on Earth does that tally with the report here claiming that some doctors say a teaspoon or approximately 5ml of ejuice could kill someone?
Granted a much lower dose can cause serious health issues but why the need to over exaggerate or over hype unless it's for propaganda reasons?
And ejuice doesn't contain the same kind of nicotine as found in tobacco leaves? Nicotine is nicotine, the only difference is it naturally occurs in tobacco plants and with vaping you use a liquid as a carrier solution. Putting nicotine in PG or VG doesn't magically transform it into something else, it doesn't chemically become another compound. It's a carrier solution only there is no chemical reaction. It's like saying a pebble on a dry beach is different to a pebble where the tide is in and it's underwater.

13 pages of comments - the vast majority explaining how the article is highly misleading. The Guardian should really put a rider up on this one - not sure how it passed editorial oversight.
