I mixed a batch of ukflavours custard up 10 days ago at 15mg as a 60vg 40pg mix and thought I'd give it a test today! now I've never made custard yet so maybe this is normal but it seemed almost like peppery to me is that normal as its only 10 day old or have I messed up somehow? it's the same bases and nic ive been using on other mixes and no problems with anything else?

The peppery taste will almost certainly fade into creaminess - dulce de leche flavouring is notorious for this. There is often a smidge of this in custards. My own custards mostly get steeped for a minimum of a month before use. Th nicest one I have just now is 7 months old

I have got the same pepper taste with the first two mixes I did. I am not sure of it is the UK flavours custard or not. However after about four weeks it pretty much went. After 8 weeks I don't notice it.

Had exactly the same problem, after reading several posts on the subject I'd assumed it was the nic and the peppery taste was being masked in all my other mixes as they were citrus based. Mixed at 6mg, 60vg 40pg and they've been steeping for 2 months and still taste foul. Taught me a valuable lessons, don't mix 150 ml of something you've not tried before.

I ordered there vanilla custard amongst other flavours last week , made a 20 ml batch of it up whacked it in window for 3 hours shook like made . And in my sub ohm tank after only 3 days steeping I loved it . So I've made the rest up but going to leave to steep for bit longer. But was so impressed with it ive just ordered another £25 worth of concentrates tonight including some more vanilla custard ......for the price , you would expect nasty chemically tasting rubbish , but tbh I'm really impressed with them , and there prices.

I thought it was my nic as well as even when I got it it was straw coloured. I have to say after 8 weeks the pepper-ness seems to have gone.

I bought the UKF custard, wasnt quite what I was expecting but pleasant enough.
Ive read all sorts on the web for the peppery nic taste from low quality nic to past its best. Have had it halfway through a mixed bottle of stuff then on the next tank fill it was gone. 1 of lifes little mysteries me thinks.

Almost certainly it's not steeped for long enough mattyjones1977 . . . this is what my ' plain ' Vanilla Custard mixes look like before I use them. Which is anything from 6 months, up to a year.

Lol . . . maybe it's just a Custard recipe that isn't for you @kopiert, have you tried any others to see if they suit your tastes better?

Perpetua the smell is divine, it has a very creamy feel it is just the flavour is weak. I have one that is 8 weeks old and untouched, that might be better. I might try the recipe with Dulce De Leche. I love vanilla custards, it is just that decent one get really expensive, especially in a sub-tank! Nick
