Hi and good morning I like in the morning to have a few hours on my earotank before hitting the bigger boy ( sub ohm ) . Coils ,is there a big difference between 1.4 ohm and 1.8 ohm iv always tried coils lower down the scale but you can decide which one you want, I ask because it will be sitting on my vamo v5 and even though the vamo will fire down to. 1.2 ohm before it tell you it won't work it does say on the specs 1.5 ohm to 5.0ohm so I was thinking I'd be best keeping to what's recommended ,so will I even notice the difference ??? Are higher ohms more for flavour and lower ohms for vapour ??? Questions questions sorry learn learn learn I'll get there, thanks ????

I personally don't think it's quite like that.
Ohms in isolation on a regulated mod pretty much determine how quickly it attains optimal temperature if using the same amount of wire in a coil (the thicker the wire, the lower the number of ohms for a given distance, but the thicker the wire, the longer it takes to heat up). I think this is moot though, as you're using (I assume) premade coils (I don't know the attomisers) and thus you can't tell the makeup of the coils in the head (they could have a narrower internal diameter, could use thicker wire).
Sub Ohms are all, I think, about vapour with a lesser focus on flavour, but I could well be wrong (I don't sub-ohm) - ask yourself why you want to play there (and look at more knowledgeable folks input).
Regarding optimal watts - it is very dependant on the coil / wick set-up, the attomiser and the juice you're vaping....
For instance, if I vape Snake Oil, it's at quite a low temperature (around 9 to 11 watts) in a Kayfun with a 2.5mm internal diameter coil. However, for tobacco flavours I tend to vape in the 15 watt range and for deserts, well, that's very dependant...
Watts (power) is volts squared over ohms
Don't worry - I've, in my fractured and ineloquent way, probably made it all sound very complicated....
What is you're trying to attain?

@yavape, simply put, on a regulated mod, like your vamo, it really makes no difference, as long as the ohms is within the recommended range as you just adjust the watts to taste.

There are basically three ways of adjusting power outputs.
If you have a fixed output battery, then you can raise the output power by using a lower resistance coil.
If you are using an adjustable voltage setting device then you can alter the settings to accommodate For the coil fitted. Higher voltage for a higher resistance coil. Lower voltage for lower resistances.
If you are using a variable wattage device, then it will read the coil, resistance and adjust the voltage for you. Just set the Watts you like and it will work it out for you.

@yavape I have been using the 1.8 ohm coils in my aerotank v2 on my vamo. Been running it at 8-9 watts depending on the juice. I've tried the 1.5 ohm coils and found no difference at all. The ones I've rebuilt with a 1.6 ohm microcoil and jap cotton give much better flavour than the stock ones.

Thank you everyone that makes sense , I just wanted to see if there's any difference because a friend told me to use the the 1.4 ohm but I think I should use what the device specs say , it may still fire at 1.4 ohm but if it says between 1.5 ohm and 5.0 ohm I feel that what I should do and get 1.8 ohm , I just wondered why they were so up on my getting the 1.4 apposed to the 1.8 when I thought it wouldn't really make a difference

I have been using the Atlantis up to now mostly and the earotank v2 with a coil that came with it ,iv tried the nautilus mini but wasn't for me. I like the big air flow but im wanting a bit more flavour ,I know a lot of people who use the nv coils say the flavour is so much better than the stock built coil so iv ordered an nv coil for the earotank v2 1.8 ohms as also if looked after properly they can last quite some time I know people who have had them up to six months. Also because I do like the sub ohm tanks iv ordered the smok vct tank and the nv coil for that at 1.4 ohms as iv spoken to people who have bought this and found the flavour great . I like two tanks on the go so I have a sub tank mini on the way from slowtech as I'm having a go at the rba then I can make the coils to what ohm I find best ,also with the smok there will be a diy core for that soon so the nv coil will see me through till that's available to buy. I just find the Atlantis coils pricey and this way I can make my own coils for the sub and the smok and hopefully only need a new nv coil for the earotank every now and again ,because I mostly just use it in the morning . just trying to learn as much as I can about how it works with the coil making and what difference different ohms make thanks
