So, its been nearly two years since my last post but I guess the good news is I've been off the stinkies for over two years. Yay me. Anyways, recently I decided to finally start mixing my own juice as all the cool kids on here seem to be doing it. I'm not getting the results I would like though. Flavour seems good but the vapour produced, throat hit and general vape are anaemic at best. I usually vape high PG (70 or 80) as I'm bit sensitive to VG but when I mix my own at that level there is next to no vapour produced. I bought a Kanger Subtank and quickly discovered that high PG and the Subtank don't mix so made up some high VG (70 and 80), a little more vapour but compared to the clouds you see produced it's quite laughable. In fact, I'm getting more vapour from bought high PG than I am from my homemade high VG. Not sure what I could be doing wrong but everything I've mixed myself is producing the same disappointing results no matter what tank I use it in. Any thoughts?

Ok few questions grv based on your high vg mix for the subtank: What % vg did you use? Where did you source the vg from? Are you using the standard supplied coils or rba base? What Watts are you set at? Are you "lung inhaling"?

I bought a starter mixing kit from UK Flavours and first tried a 70/30 PG heavy mix with the supplied 1.2 coil but it spat boiling hot juice right back at me. Used a 70/30 VG heavy with the 0.6 supplied coil but there was hardly any vapour. Yesterday I set up the rba and used a 80/20 VG heavy. There was a noticeable difference but still not what I was expecting. Now, I just stuck the rba back on and the first vape produced a massive plume of smoke but the next few weren't anywhere near as impressive!?! I've tried it from 15w all the way up to 29w (and just ruined a Nautilus coil by forgetting to turn it back down). It's also making my cough a lung, particularly when I lung inhale, which is added proof I really am VG sensitive. Guess the subtank is the wrong toy for me. Probably be a super cheap one going soon if anyone is interested.
Given the lack of vapour produced with my PG heavy mixes using the Nautilus compared to bought juices do you think it could be something to do with the VG itself? I understand UK Flavours are a trusted supplier so I've been assuming I'm going wrong somehow.
Cheers.

Firstly, if you are VG intolerant then sell on the subtank, those things are designed for direct lung inhales and whilst you can use them as a "standard" atty by closing off the airflow this isn't their intention and imo you would be better suited swapping it with a nautilus or the like. clouds from a particular juice will vary from one atty to another (dependant on airflow and wicking) ultimately if you are getting the throat hit you desire without the side affects of a vg intolerance then I wouldn't be so concerned...clouds do nothing other than "look cool" if you are really searching for clouds as well as throat hit then hopefully we can help more

Haha! Well, the huge clouds are pretty cool but I'm willing to live without them (it would be cool though). There's just something not quite right with what I'm making. Like I say, the flavour seems good but the throat hit and general feel of it just aint right. You wouldn't be happy if I sold you a bottle put it that way Would steeping longer have an affect other than to flavour?

I hear that adding a small amount of vodka gives more body to a mix around 1% grv haven't used it myself but there is a thread on it

Body! Now that's the phrase I was looking for! Definitely a distinct lack of it in what I've produced so far. Thanks babs will have to give that a try. Pity this is a rum house as I have plenty of that lying around.

Nah arron definitely have them the right way round. Sucking up 8ml of glue like VG into the syringe I certainly remember

Would steeping longer have an affect other than to flavour? Depends what flavours you've used grv, desserts & custards take a little time . . . other than that a week to 10 days is sufficient for most. I only ever use VG heavy home brew and whilst I don't aim to get clouds, there's no shortage of vapour - even in my humble Protanks. I guess it depends on your expectations. Sub tanks aren't for everyone's style of vaping. Out of interest, what recipes/flavours have you used?

Thanks for the advice though peeps. Will give the vodka a go and keep trying. Subtank will likely appears in the classifieds sooner rather than later. Glad I bought all that extra Kanthal and cotton :/

Perpetua , I've not tried any recipes as such, just the flavours I got with my starter kit. Vanilla custard, peppermint, spearmint, rhubarb, butterscotch. All tasty. Would love to be able to nail this and get creative.

Might be time to have a potter through our recipes and mix yourself some tasty recommended brews grv, or try the likes of Pink Spot/Tjuice concentrates, which are more of the ' standalone ' variety. I wouldn't sell your sub tank just yet, not until you've perfected a few mixes that really suit your tastes.

You think a standalone could make a difference Perpetua ? Any recommendations? Unless someone can tell me wrong I don't think the subtank is the tank to use for the PG heavy mixes I need. Nautilus seems the best option at the moment. Miss being a cheapskate and making my own Protank coils but I tried to go back and it wasn't so tasty.
