Subtank Mini - Noisy

I just received a Subtank Mini which is fitted with the 0.5 ohm stock coil.  It has the air wide open and set at 18 watts.  It's a bit like vaping a rocket engine.  Is it supposed to be noisy?  Crackles like a pig on fire with 50/50 juice.  Doing direct inhales and getting billowing clouds which I'm not too keen on, but taste is good.  I'm just a bit concerned about the noise.

crackling coils are happy coils Bobsbeer... it's so much noisier than you're used to because of the extra power and airflow

It's good, but I an just a bit conscious of the Apollo rocket engine. Makes the GS Air seem like a road car sitting next to a F1 Farrari.

Once the coil breaks in a bit you'll find it gets less crackly and spitty.

Yeah running them with the airflow fully open can be a bit whooshy (that's gotta be a word) especially if your doing big lung inhales but I kind of like the noise

I have fitted one of mine with mini Nautilus drip tip and shut the airflow down to 1 hole.

Less Darth Vader, more Stealth Vaper.

I did try shutting down the air, but it gets a bit hot, even with only 18 watts.

If your going to shut down the air you might as well use a Kayfun or nautilus. Big airflow makes the Subtank sing so to speak

Um.

I'm getting more air than both even on 1 hole and with a slim drip tip, so I don't agree.

t.b.h. I'm enjoying it on middle setting and am getting used to the factory drip tip.... give me time... I am not very adventurous.
