Hello all, I'm new to the forum although it was recommended by an old friend from schooldays, TomJ777.
I've been vaping a while now, using an itaste VV and lately an MVP 2, both with protanks, BUT I'm about to make the step to building my own. First off it seems slightly daunting, but experimenting over the last couple of days since I got my RBA I have seen that it's nothing really to be afraid of. The biggest problem I think I will face is my own impatience, but a morning spent assembling, dis-assembling, assembling the new unit (KF4) is teaching me some patience, as is experimenting on wick thickness.
I'm looking forwards to reading threads and learning from people as I continue to get more involved in vaping.

Welcome rebuilding coils is daunting but you'll soon find your own knack doing them. I'm sure some folk would shudder if they saw my methods! As long as it works for you, that's all that matters

washburn2102 welcome to AAEC, wicking is the biggest factor i have found, dry hits are not pleasant and are something to avoid at all costs , flooding or leaking are just messy and annoyance. Can take some playing about with to get it right especially since every atty behaves differently.

Hi washburn2102 to AAEC The bit that took me longest to master with rebuilding was wicking. Too much, dry hits. Too little, leaks. Make a perfect one, think I got it sussed, next one, pants Still making the odd dodgy one

Yes, Tom mentioned about wicking frustrations a couple of days ago. I was thinking (before getting into the learning side) that coils would be the problem but I see this isn't the case (or not entirely) I've been attempting some today with organic cotton from boots - just the basic first steps of teasing it out, rolling it, passing through a coil and trimming it and despite thinking I had got each amount pretty much the same, every single one was different after the first step. I'm waiting on some Japanese cotton, and I want to try and get it right so I can fire it up first time with the best "ingredients". It makes no difference of course, but I might find it psychologically comforting Got some Snake Oil ready to go in that first burn as well (my all time favourite juice)

Welcome aboard washburn2102, youll find the jap cotton a lot more consistent to work with.
