Just got my long awaited Lemo drop and re wicked the stock 1.0ohm coil with Japanese cotton donated by another lovely forum member. Pre juiced it with 60/40 20mg Norther lights which I happily vape in Nautilus mini (1.8ohm) and Aerotank (1.5ohn) between 8 and 10w.
Loaded the Lemo up and stuck it on my iStick (that's another thread:-)) at 9w vaped away and nearly fell on the floor choking and head exploding (ok bit exaggerated). Compared to what I am used to this was a very hot vape, choking throat hit, little vape and no flavour. Additionally I did severely reduce air flow since I am a mouth to lung ex smoker. Glad I didn't go for a lung hit!!!
Am I doing something wrong or is this the nature of the beast? Cheers folks

Did you juice up the wick initially ? Have you checked to see if the cotton is burnt. I ask as if you've not used an RBA before you may not be familiar with this requirement and the nautilus and aerotanks are far more forgiving in this area. If you don't juice the wick on an RBA you'll juice burn the cotton at first fire and will definitely give plenty of throat hit but not in a good way.

Thanks for reply. Yes pre juiced, filled and stood for an hour. Persevered for about an hour but could only cope with a few short puffs at a time without my eyes watering. Then I rewicked from purchased wick (not burnt) with jap cotton and same thing. Perhaps this type of vaping is not for me I guess. But disillusioned really.

Try a 1.5 coil in it, I run my kayfuns at that and is a nice leisurely vape at around 10-11W. Though im around 7mg on the strength,
Also worth checking the legs arent hot spotting before final assembly.

Legs hot spotting?? Guess that means what??? Sorry a real newbie at this It means fire up your coil before wicking and make sure the coil heats up nice and evenly and the legs of the coil which go to the terminal posts aren't getting hot due to poor connections etc.

Something that stood out to me was you said you severely reduced the airflow, that to me accounts for the heat and lack of vapour. Just sounds like the airflow is too closed off, open the airflow up a bit i can open mine up to about a third of the way open and it's still restrictive enough to mouth to lung vape on and get enough air to keep the coil cool and produce plenty of vapour.

The difference between a standard clearomizer and a RBA is huge. The level of your nicotine could be a factor in what you're experiencing. When I moved on from a Aerotank to a Kayfun I had to drop from 18mg to 11mg. I was getting dizzy from the nic rush, so dropped straight away. On another note, check your airflow setting on the Lemo. It could be closed off too much, this will cause increased heat and throat hit. EDIT: Ninja'd by Get Off My Cloud

Cheers folks Will try that when I get back. I started off fully open but still got no taste and very airey. Will wind back the airflow and try again. Perhaps drop nic level as well. Will also kidnap Lairey at next LSE meeting (bring a change of clothes and cookies) :-D

Too add to what has already been said, I was plauged with dry hits when I first had Kfun took an age to find that even though the wick was juiced up the legs were glowing red as it was producing vapour. Couldnt see it when pulsing but a longer fire like when taking a toot you could see the wire legs glowing red. If they are you need to manipulate some of the wick to provide a little juice coverage to the legs.

Lower the nic level 20mg on a decent rba is very strong I vaped 18mg before I got my lemos and subtanks now I vape 12mg you gotta remember these tanks are a far more efficient delivery system then older types also open the airflow halfway take a couple of vapes and open or close one rotation of the AFC till you hit the happy spot. Rba's can be frustrating at first but once you've got it zoned in on your personal preference becomes a lot easier time and patience are all you need to get a good result think it took me four or five attempts before iI got the wicking just right .
