Hi All..
I got my Riva this morning!.. whooo hoooo.. anyway, when I fired it up it first tasted weird a bit nasty, and the vapor smelt like old wellies..eww.. then I rememeber about primer fluid etc.. so blew out the atty and just puffed through a cart but blowing the vapor straight out without inhaling etc..
(literally just trying to clear off the primer) anyway.. the vapor is smelling much better now and smelling like the ejuice, but the vapor seems to linger for ages just like analogue smoke and sort of drifts slowly around the room.. kinda scary just how much like tobbacco smoke it is (but without the smell etc) I don't mind it, it's quite funky it emulates smoke so well. just wondered if this is normal as my normal as I never noticed it so much with my 510 cigalike..
is this just the mix of the ejuice or do you think may still be some primer oil in there etc?
I don't want to inhale yet until I know all the primer is gone
(but loving the vapor output of the Riva and the feel of it)

The Riva does produce a good vapour and, yes, it does linger. However, the vapour will never cause the type of 'fug' that smoke does and if you leave and re-enter a room, there will be no smell or residue as the vapour disperses fairly rapidly. I haven't noticed any residue on my room surfaces as was the case with cigarette smoke that left a distinct yellow film and a horrible pong! Good luck with your Riva, I'm sure you'll love it as much as I love mine. Fox

Hi Foxy:)
thanks. and oh yeah I love the way it emulates smoke and I love to watch it float past the light etc, and you answered another question, that's one of the things I was worried about.. I saw the thick vapor and thought ooh noo my lovely freshly decorated room etc, and remember what it used to be liked when I smoked analogues etc... Phew!.. thanks for that!.. I remember moving into a house where the previous owners had smoked constantly for what looked like 40+ years.. OMG!
And yeah, I'm loving the vapor from the Riva.. with my ecig I liked to kind of just let it hang out of my mouth and puff on it hands free, but not so easy to do with the Riva haha.. but what an upgrade to my cigalike.. oh aye!..
actually while I remember, can I just ask, is it best to store it horizontal, or standing up etc?..
Thanks
M

I store mine lying down and, to date, have had no problems with leaking even when using an atomizer with cartridge (obviously be sure not to overfill). Since changing to Boge standard resistant cartomizers I've not worried about leakage at all (again, keep the wadding wet but don't overfill). You can store them standing up but you'd need a special something to put them in otherwise they just fall over! Fox

I'm trying to get primer off an atomizer and failing. Two days so far and it's giving me headaches, I even boiled it last night, but it's still there today. Why do they use it, is it really necessary?

Back in the days when I was a driper I used to give my new atomisers a good blow through then put them in boiling water and simmer them for 15 minutes approx. giving them a slosh round in the water once in a while.
Then I just blew them out and left them 24 hours to dry out after which I never had to worry about primer, just running the buggers in.
Thank God for carto's, less hassle.

chances are the juice will contain more VG, that stuff hangs about for ages.... blow some slowly without inhaling onto a kitchen work surface or table (even the floor if you want to get down there ) it will hang about for ages like a cheap horror film

@ foxy.. Thanks:) and yeah, I noticed if I stood it up I kept knockng it over and ended up getting mad lol.. got quite annoying in the end.. shame they dont make some kind of stand for them.. @chrissie, Thank You.. and yeah, it sure a lot less effort than an ciggy type Jemima.. hehe, I bet that's fun to watch, you will have to blow giant smoke rings and see if you can train him to jump through them eheh Roz & Grizwald, Yeah, I noticed even after a day of puffing and just trying to clear the atty it still has a strange oily (smelly welly) type of taste/scent.. I switched to one of the boges Cartomisers and it was fine so it must be the primer.... I might try your method Griswald of boiling it etc.. Tom. "it will hang about for ages like a cheap horror film " LOL!.. mannn I love all the slogans and classic one liners in this forum, I've used some for my fb status lol, heh..I'm gonna start a tshirt buisiness.

I've only ever given new atomizers a quick blow through and filled with whatever juice I fancy - the taste of the primer disappears in a trice. Perhaps you could try cartomizers instead of atomizers. I have heard that ''primer fluid'' is nothing other than plain PG which has been sat there for a while, it would make sense since that is all that would be needed to stop the corrosion which I assume this fluid is attempting to stop..
Like I said, it is just what I heard, I am just glad I have never experienced it.

Perhaps you could try cartomizers instead of atomizers. Fox I do use cartomizers mostly Fox, but I've been vaping some juice recently that used to be my favourite and now it tastes horrible, so I was wondering if it was the tank (that I'd filled right up > ) that was changing the taste, so instead of wasting a carto, I thought I'd try an empty cartridge, blue foam and an atomizer just to taste. (I don't like direct dripping.) It's so long since I used an atomizer, the one I had was dead, so I had to start on a new one. I'd tried all the blowing through and bridge dripping etc., to no avail. I'll just have to tip out the juice in the tank and start again with a new flavour I suppose.
