New Eleaf iStick User Question

Hi guys,

My new iStick seems a little bit aggressive! I'm not sure if I've got it turned down as low as it can go. Can someone who uses an iStick please tell me what the lowest settings are? By that I mean precisely what figures I should see in the LED display that will confirm I've got it turned down to its lowest? I'm not very technical so keep it simple please!

Without an atomiser attached 2 watts in power mode or 3.3 volts in voltage mode.

However with it freshly charged you're more likely running about 8 watts or 3.8 volts (the iSticks cannot go lower than the battery voltage)

They can seem to be bit harsh especially with a coil of less than 1.5 ohms I like to use a 1.8 or 2 ohm coil on mine (in a Nautilus) and they work very well at around 10 - 12 watts

I always find with the istick that when the battery is fresh I have to turn it down mikemichelle to about 8.5 - 9.0W, this is because it cannot step the voltage down only up so at first it will push 4.1 V ish thro no matter what it is set at, I don't know why this works as I said it cannot step the voltage down but it works for me.

I think that's a common issue for many users of the 20w versions mikemichelle . . . my understanding is that they don't have the same regulated output as other VV/VW devices.

A freshly coiled Protank at 1.8ohms, around 5.6watts gives me a nice/non burny vape.

What are you using on yours and what setting?

With my 20w Perpetua I find myself saying

"whoa, that's a bit much, better turn it down" and finding I'm vaping in single-figure watts already.

It's a feisty little thing. 6 months later, it's still kicking and screaming like a scalded crocodile....

mikemichelle The lowest reading on a 20W is 3.0V and 2.0V on the 30W.

We've got juices that we just can't use on the 20W as they burn on the lowest setting.

Thanks for all the replies and advice guys! Yeah I "think" I have the 20W and the lowest I can get it is 3.0V. It seems to be settling down a little now! I have to admit that despite being a tad aggressive, it's by far the best thingy I've used so far in my new life without the stinkies! Very satisfying indeed!

The original iStick (20W) uses a faulty algorithm to calculate the power output. It's always too high. (It uses mean instead of RMS, for the techy people)

So, if its lowest setting is too hot for you, if you can, switch to higher resistance coils (maybe 2 Ohms instead of 1.5 Ohms) and voltage mode (three clicks on the main switch to change that). That way you can get the vape a bit cooler.

You can not compare the display value of the original iStick with anything else, so just go for taste, not the number displayed for volatge or wattage.

The iStick 30W and the iStick 50W use the correct formula, but even they fire a bit high in the lower settings, but not nearly as off as the original one.

So what is the general consensus about which is the "best" iStick to buy? 30W or 50W? I'm not sure how long the iStick lasts (there's another question) but I'm thinking of buying a backup/second iStick? 30W or 50W please???

If you need to vape over 30 watts, get the iStick 50. If you don't vape over 30 watts, get the iStick 30.

It's not rocket science.

Sorry, but it is a moot question. You will get more time from the 50 compared to the 30, that is all unless you vape above 30 watts.

Double the battery life in the 50w for an extra £7 if you buy the genuine one at retail in the UK.
Still a pocket friendly device and with fixed battery mods i will always pick the better battery life because you can't just chuck a fresh battery in when it runs flat so it makes sense to me have a battery that will last longer to lower the chances of it going flat on you when you're out.
Just because it goes up to 50w doesn't mean it's mandatory to use it at 50w, you can use it at any setting you like between 5w and 50w.

I have a couple of these clones on order right now of the 50w iStick for just over £24 each.
If you don't mind waiting a week or two for them it'll save you a few sheckles on the UK prices.

Personally, I prefer the 30w form, mainly because it's that bit smaller/neater mikemichelle and as I don't go over 30 watts it's fine for my needs.

Though, if in doubt . . . . buy both, you know you've made the right decision then!


And no, I haven't had an iStick decease on me, still using my originals.
