what a difference a coil makes!

After buying numerous coils from FastTech, my favourite is a 1.8 ohm loose coiled precoiled wire. Tried the tight ones but couldn't get a draw or hit.
Whacked my fave in this morning and its great! Such a marked change. Luckily I have a fair few kicking around. These are on a firebox squonker which doesn't like below 1.5 ohm.

Have you got a link to these coils please? @spikeyfridge as I am so confused with the various offerings and there are times that i really cant be asked to redo a coil! What is the diameter of these approx please

Longer legs on these. Diameter, not a clue but I don't have difficulty wicking

I'm guessing that the coils are 2mm diameter, judging by the dimensions?

I reckon they are just over 2.6mm internal diameter.

after struggle to work this out for yonks with FT coils I now think the width stated is the external diam of the coil so just subtract twice the thickness of the wire to get the ID

It is generally better as the legs (straight bits) don't get heated because they are non-resistance wire, in many atties it just stops a minor bit of over heated juice, but where the legs are long or go through rubber insulators it makes a much bigger positive difference.

The ones I use have never failed me. I change them about every 3 days, just because I can. Not sure some actually need it that frequently

It's bad enough when I drop the box of ss screws sorting the different sizes, I think I would have a break down if I had to sort out several similar sizes of pre-made coils
