I'm discovering it's usefulness and I already have nail varnish remover for all things leather.... This plea is for my furries. I gotta somehow get the wd40 I put on their cage ages ago (trying to loosen gnawing block ) off! Simples My furries are ok (apart from a trip to the vets needed for Honey's wee lump this pm LOL) and just have gotten a new toy care of Fuzzbutts online But I need to remove this WD40..thanks Jane

Rubbing alcohol and isopropyl alcohol aren't the same thing, if OP specifically wants rubbing alcohol then this is not it.

Can provide link if needed. There was another brand (? Haz? I think?) that came up which was slightly cheaper but I didn't know the brand so didn't buy it Thanks once again prr

Rubbing alcohol and isopropyl alcohol aren't the same thing, if OP specifically wants rubbing alcohol then this is not it. Depends where you come from us rubbing alcohol isn't the same as UK, and how you look at it, rubbing alcohol contains at least 70% isopropyl, and isopropyl is actually better can also be known as surgical sprit, the term rubbing alcohol is actually banned for sale in most stores in the UK, I recall someone from boots the chemist telling me that years ago,

Rubbing alcohol and isopropyl alcohol aren't the same thing, if OP specifically wants rubbing alcohol then this is not it. Depends where you come from us rubbing alcohol isn't the same as UK, and how you look at it, rubbing alcohol contains at least 70% isopropyl, and isopropyl is actually better can also be known as surgical sprit, the term rubbing alcohol is actually banned for sale in most stores in the UK, I recall someone from boots the chemist telling me that years ago, Sorry, but isopropyl alcohol, isopropyl rubbing alcohol and rubbing alcohol are chemically all completely different compounds and both "rubbing alcohol" in the UK and US are exactly the same chemical compound. Granted they are very similar but when you want a chemical for a specific reason then you need to select the correct one containing the correct chemicals. Isopropyl alcohol or to give it it's chemical name 2-propanol or propan-2-ol is a secondary alcohol with the molecular formula C3H8O whereas rubbing alcohol is a denatured alcohol mixture containing the majority ethanol (C2H5OH) and then other alcohols, ketones or even on occasion acetone depending on the application required. A third solvent called isopropyl rubbing alcohol contains the 70% isopropyl alcohol that you state in your post but cannot be called simply isopropyl alcohol or rubbing alcohol. They all look very similar but smell different and to be called isopropyl alcohol, it needs to contain in excess of 99% of the total % by volume. I'm not trying to be an arse, it's just that you have shown an interest so i thought that i would clear this common misconception up, and if you asked for rubbing alcohol in a lab you would generally get a liquid that had ethanol as it's greatest % by volume not isopropyl alcohol. You are correct in your statement that the term "rubbing alcohol" is banned for descriptive use in the UK for the confusion that can be caused above.
