As I’m still new at this mixing thing I’m getting a bit confused with the sweetener and vodka. I’m not sure how much to put in my mixes for best effect, is 1% 10%? I’m using mostly UK Flavours flavouring at the moment. Some taste okay while others are well are down the sink

1% to start with genguskhan, although neither are mandatory

You don't necessarily need either genguskhan. I would suggest mixing a small sample of a recipe without either and then if not sweet enough, add sweetener. The vodka is something a few of us use. I use it to pre-dilute my VG to make it easier to work with. The side benefit of this is that it tends to add just a little je ne sais quoi to the mix, maybe adding a little body... really hard to explain...

Ive often found PG to be bitter, the more added the more sweetener needed to mask it IMO.

The more sweetener you use in a mix . . . the quicker your coils will also gunge up genguskhan as it caramelises when heated. So don't go too mad sweetening, otherwise you'll also be spending your time re-coiling! What PG/VG ratio's are you mixing at out of interest.

Sure your right Perpetua, as a big fan of your vanilla custard recipe, I have to change the wick every refill anyway, that's with a Kayfun about 2.5ml I guess. My mixes are a bit dull, I have sweetener, Dulce de Leche and Vanillin, in my hoard but have no idea what to do with any of them. I see recipes that say 1% of one of the above should be used, can 1% make any discernible difference?

Sure your right Perpetua, as a big fan of your vanilla custard recipe, I have to change the wick every refill anyway, that's with a Kayfun about 2.5ml I guess. That's a drawback with many of the Custard type vapes Archie, I'd guess the flavours themselves also contain sweetener, so any extra added, contribute to the gunkage. I keep mine for Protanks & Drippers which my meagre recoiling skills can cope with for regular recoiling, every couple of days usually. Capella's Cake Batter is another, I like it by itself - one tank full and my coil has had it though. My mixes are a bit dull, I have sweetener, Dulce de Leche and Vanillin, in my hoard but have no idea what to do with any of them. I see recipes that say 1% of one of the above should be used, can 1% make any discernible difference? The short answer is yes, I think. Any of those can add just a little extra depth/roundness to a mix . . . the finishing touch is the best way I can think to describe their effect. Dulce de Leche we used to add to just about any flavour, don't see it used quite so much now - a little in with some fruit/coffee/caramel flavours, gives a really nice creamy taste.

Thanks perpetua I haven't had to much problems with coils so far But have ordered a Fogger clone from FS and some pre coild wick don't know if they work with the Fogger though I mix 40/60 I find some of the liquid a bit harsh? On the good side I've dropped my Nic from 18mg to 10mg in a week

I mix 40/60 I find some of the liquid a bit harsh? Try upping your VG ratio genguskhan . . . not only will it be less harsh, but VG has an underlying sweetness of it's own ( which PG doesn't ) so you'll have a slightly sweeter base to start from. Which if you've a sweet tooth will probably suit your tastes.
