I don't really have the time till later to really get stuck into it but I'm not seeing any pre-heat in normal use yet
It does have a soft/standard and powerful mode
I'm using a taifun gt2 that was already set up with a nickel coil at 0.14ohms and I'm running it at 400f and at 15j. That's the sweet spot for Cocomel before the heat changes the flavour and I'm finding that it hits temperature almost instantly in standard mode.
It does seem to do the job every bit s good as the evolv chip
The mod itself is a joy to use.
I'll get some proper time with it later

Are the soft/standard and powerful mode for both temp limited mode and normal mode blakey?

If you still have a dual wick genny set up with Ni that should make evaluating the pre heat easy.

I only have this taifun single coil set up to hand, yes the 3 power modes do seem to work in temp mode, I can notice a difference
I won't be anywhere near any ability to re-coil and use other atties till tonight

I went myepack @ £169 but got free sony VTC4 so nearly the same....Think I might have to hit the classis too..!

After quite some use
A niggle, there is no auto switching between power and temp modes- you have to dig it out of the menu and set it yourself
A niggle 2, when it's charged via usb there is no different coloured leds to let you know it's full or charging, the screen just goes off.
A plus, there are 5 settings that you can pre-set in both modes so it becomes easy to switch settings for different atties/flavours
The chips menu takes a little getting used to but easy once learned
I seem to have 4 power settings - soft/standard/powerful/powerfu+ although I can't notice much if any difference between the last two at 400f & 15j
In powerful mode it does kick extra power to the coil till it reaches temperature so it can pre-heat. It reaches temperature very quickly indeed and as fast as the evolv chip with pre-heat engaged but again that's only at 400f.
I put the same attie on a dna40 mini at the same temperature setting and I could tell no difference in performance other than the nice lack of the temperature protected warning on the screen
The chip just does its business without annoyingly telling you that it's doing so!
