Ouch letsavit, better to find out sooner I guess. I though with the 5 extra months YiHi took to release a temp limited board and the benefits of learning form problems some users had with the DNA40 it would be a bullet-proof workhorse.

Flask-SXmini, re read the ohms... both .014....fastect reader . 016 either way 80f difference...same coil/build. Still burning at 350f, DNA40 not a mark at 430F.










That's me done, no more time wasted playing with this device, back in box..

Not on my one......knew it was running hotter from the start....but 80f+.....!

Just envy you guys so much, struggled so long without joules, it's been a long hard walk!

Still, I'll struggle on with my jouleless life just knowing that one day joules will be available to us less fortunate in life.

Ignore Joules they are nonsense for a power setting, mentally substitute Watts for Joules (1 Joule = 1 Watt for 1 second).

Kayfun this morning tasted burnt on the SX only, built many a NI200 single coil now, know my kayfuns, fine on the DNA40 so a cotton test. Here's my results of my cotton test, not going any lower than 300f which is still burning the cotton, no point, it's not working.

I set the resistance on mine from cold and run the cotton test at .16ohms at 400f
No issue
Removed attie and tried it on a dna40, no problem. Let it all cool down again and re-fitted the attie to the sx mini and re-set the resistance
No issue
I notice though that the same dna40 overnight gremlins crawl inside and swing on the coil so it burns the cotton in the morning
A perfectly fine and working coil that produces masses of dense vapour as you put it down for the night becomes a train wreck by morning

But I've got a BMW and I toot much longer than 1 second, just know I'm missing something here, is a joule only good for 1 second, even the smallest insects live longer than that!

Yea I get my fair share...

Been running at 20j same as the 20w as the DNA40 then just let temp do its thing.... First day subtank, second day lemo ( was tasting burnt but don't know this atty so forgave the SX) today Kayfun, run around 12watts for me so temp needed to be more active and working, Kayfun made it apparent today it wasn't working well.

Only get that with dirty 510, rarely press "new coil", but did have a twisted coil on a Orchid shorting across loops burn the wick once and changed to spaced coils after that.

Is this partly why the DNA now has a lock ohms feature...?

I never let a 510 stay gunked up
I press "new coil/same coil" cos I reset the mod every day before first use by firing it without and attie attached to solve the issue.
I find it mainly in tanks as opposed to drippers and I know that makes no sense at all

I would imagine so, any intermittent or poor connection problem make it hard for it to keep track of the temp and locking it is safer in those cases as it would just be under temp.  It will recover on it's own to some extent by tracking the resistance while the coil cools in refinement mode which should get the most accurate handle on coil resistance.  At these low resistances the wiring and atty resistance can be high enough to make a straight measurement and locking less accurate.  I have no idea if the YiHi has an equivalent of refinement mode, I would expect it to and then it would probably be best to wait an hour or two after fitting a new coil before locking it, a lot of conjecture so don't take it as gospel.

Loads of people have moaned about it being silly not just me, look at some other forums I have not seen anyone thinking it was a good idea
