Just a thought and i'd like to see other peoples opinions on this, I want nothing back in thread good or bad just want to see peoples opinions (I sign my threads MP but i'm not one just my initials lol)
For me been forever a box mod man, started with 14500's as best you could get, went up to 18650, but these days box mods so good on lipo bats and can be charged by any USB source availble i cannot take the hassle of seperate batteries, I know some charge the batteries internaly by USB but i'd rather buy cheaper internal bat then sling when dead.
My point is why buy these days a mod that needs external charger, spare batteries and when you go on holiday a suitcase for all just mentioned, I just get in my car, on charge, sit in front of computer in work or at home, on charge, even bloody westfield shopping centre got little lockers I could charge it (not as if i'd be there long enough for that).
A topic for conversation, like I said no replies, just bit of fun to think about.

Wife and both started on Spinner v2's ( I fact she's still on them ) but I quickly moved on to mechs, and then reg box mods that all take 18650 batts, and a Nitecore D4.
I find it far easier just having a few batteries and just charging as and when necessary, always having spares charged for when I am out and about.

Why external batteries? Easy, because i have a four bay charger and loads of batteries so when i have four flat batteries i charge all four at once ,takes the same amount of time as charging one and when the battery goes flat in a mod i already have a supply of fully charged batteries so can just sling one in.

I still use chargers with external batteries . . . even the Box Mods where they can be charged via a USB, it's a habit I've got into and one I'm comfortable doing mart166. Although I'm the first to agree that the iSticks etc have simplified the charging process. I like having options . . . .

I think I'm sort of moving away from external battery charging as its so much simpler just to plug and play the new Istick revolution with the 4400 mah battery must only need charging every 3 days so its so much simpler At the moment i have a solara for work and Vaporshark for home, i run a pc all day so its plugged in when needed and at home I've the wireless charger for my shark For me its just a lot less hassle I still charge batteries now and again though for when using a mech mod but they are getting less and less vaping time

For me separate batteries are an easier and much much cheaper way to vape. I had a few cheap EGos and the battery was the thing to ware out far too quickly so separating the battery and box/tube was firstly economic sense, now I can have a weeks worth of batteries charged if I'm going away that fit all my devices. But I generally charger 2 a day and always have a minimum of 2 charged so I am never in the position where I may be tempted to charge them unattended and it's never any hassle. If you buy decent high drain 18650's they will power most mods, high drain like 25R & VTC4 are a better buy IMO even if you don't need the extra current now there is a good chance you will want to try a higher powered mod in the next year.

I just ordered a box clone that takes 18650's as I have a load of them and currently nothing to use them with, and what dr00g said. Backups, nuff said.

Reading above it does seem horses for courses, I spend lot of time away from home so the USB option far best for me, but we all different and have different methods, thanks for replies it's interesting. PS I still have an I4 at home to keep my vamos going, but it's use is getting less these days.

hi just a word of warning be careful with the usb chargers where the battery can be removed ,ive got an ivp mini 2 70w lasted a month and then wouldnt charge took it back and told them ,and was told to use external battery charger as it is far better for the battery than using the the usb of a laptop etc,as the usb ports on a lot of the mods go faulty ,a problem with the soldering on the port to board seems main culprit(not a problem on the sealed type battery mods mvp3 etc because they're charging ports are done a different way).they swapped my ivp no problem or gave me the option to keep old one and give me a charger....i went with replacement then bought a charger as well .i must admit it must be better to use a charger if you can as they have 3 modes of charging to keep your battery at its best(but still want the option of usb charge as a just incase ) any way that was my experience hope it helps ....and it does help to have a couple of batteries on the go

Up until several months ago, all my units used external batteries which meant that while out and about (like working outside) I had to carry spare fully charged batteries. These were for both tube and box mods.
Then I found the IStick. What a difference!!!! Charged up overnight, it will last at least 22 hours and with the Aspire Nautilus, I can be out all day and never worry about running out of power or juice.
All my other (old) gear is now confined to the house or my vaping shed where I can recharge when necessary.
During the summer months we tend to be away in our caravan. Up until now that meant taking extra batteries and chargers. Now I will take one extra Istick and a charging cable and my "Holiday Vaping Kit" will be reduced from a shoe box sized case to a 4" x 4" wee box.
What I cannot fathom out is how can something the size of an Istick, hold enough power to last 22 hours when an external 18650 battery will only last a quarter of that?

Why do manufacturers include USB Charging? Because many would buy a mod for that feature.
Why then do manufacturers tell you not to use that USB?
If it's included it should be up to the job.
My opinion!!

I don,t see the point in buying something that you can,t use
because you have to wait hours for it to charge, much prefer to just swap
the batteries.

As I have described in another thread I had 2 iSticks that the USB charging port has broken on. The Innards have simply come away from the circuit board that is surface soldered. I have a iStick 30 & a Smowell DVP 50 and o these I have put hot glue around the USB connector to give it some mechanical protection.
I have just received a replacement PCB from FT for the iStick 20 so shall bung that in one of the cases, when I find the time!

Usb ports wear out. Opening a battery door don't. Simples.
