Went very open at Stansted and Alicante airports without even raising an eyebrow.

I just did a 28 hour journey to Indonesia and back and I took a my ecigs on the flights. I'd keep an ear to the ground on whether they're allowed on at all in 2 years time because it could change. I didn't ask if I could bring them on or use them. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission when it comes to airlines I think. If you have to ask, they'll probably just say no because they don't know for sure either. I brought two completed 650mah egos on the flights with me (3 flights, 3 security searches). I made sure they were complete so I could demonstrate what they were if I was asked. I also brought my egos because I consider them disposeable; I wouldn't be above throwing them away if I was told I can't bring them on. My backup? The lavatube, with no batteries and no attachments in my suitcase. I put the batteries in a pack of 5 CE2 box because they fit perfectly and so they wouldn't explode and kill me if they shorted on metal or on each other, because who wants that on an airoplane? I had no questions, going through Edinburgh, Singapore and Bali - where ecigs are illegal! No one seemed to care about the egos and my lavatube wasn't confiscated. Yes, I did stealth vape - I stealth vaped right in my seat. Oh the horror Thankfully no one noticed because I'm all vapine ninja or something and the icing on the cake was the one guy who got into a lot of trouble for being caught smoking a real cigarette in the toilet 2 hours into the flight to singapore. Are you crazy man?! I was so tempted to tell them about ecigs but I thought, it would probably add insult to injury. Perperation is the best thing - have one to show what it is and does, then have one that doesn't look like an ecig or some form of completed bomb

I'm hoping it won't be an issue for me in a couple of months. I'm heading off to Japan flying cattle class and I'm hoping I'll at least get to enjoy a little nicotine while I fly. I'm not above going to the bathroom or exhaling into my sleeve though and a quick Google suggests that Japan itself is very E-cig friendly.
I think you make a good point Leftfield. I'll make sure I take something I don't mind losing/getting confiscated in my hand luggage just to be on the safe side.

Oh I forgot. I saw one thread on ECF where someone had their provari looked over and bomb dusted because they had it next to a chocolate bar. They were told that the ecig didn't look suspicious on its own - it looked suspicious because it was next to organic material.
I think it helped I had my ecig parts seperated in easily accessible areas of my pack. I put them near no other electronics so it was clear it wasn't part of a large explosive because I'm sure with the amount of electronics I carry, anything looking like a detonator would have the scanners needing fresh undies when they see my bag going through x-ray.
When I last went to america, I put both of my ego batteries - completed - on the outside pocket of my bag just before I put it through for scanning. I figure, if they want to see what they are, they can look all they want without having to go through my stuff. Hide it in plain view kinda thing. You know how rigid security is in the USA and worse I had to go through Amsterdam on the way and back too which is also overboard on security. No one said a thing. I don't think they see 650mah ego batteries as a threat, even with a CE2 on it.
Since they're illegal in Bali and I think in singapore too - I didn't want them on the outside of my bag. No one said anything about them so yeah, good times right?
