Getting back to Perpareathome's original post, a mate of mine who vapes is flying to Australia, tomorrow as it happens. As others have said, airlines vary so it is necessary to check with whoever you are flying with. She is however taking a copy of the email she received back from Aussie Customs saying she does NOT have to declare she is carrying an e-cig with her on arrival!
Australia itself has a really quite bizarre and schizophrenic attitude - you can get any hardware you want and there are e-cig vendors selling e-cigs perfectly legally over there. They outlawed the sale of any nicotine liquids so what you CAN'T buy is e-liquid with nicotine in it, the vendors can only supply zero strength. You CAN however import it from elsewhere perfectly legally AS LONG as it is for your personal use and you don't sell it to anyone else, so this is what Aussie vapers are forced to do.
So at present the really crucial thing to remember is to take as much e-liquid with you as you think you will need for the duration of your stay - which you are perfectly entitled to do. See what I mean? Downright daft.

I recently went via Easyjet, Belfast to Stansted, had a discreet puff with no problem.Puffed away in the airport too as we had 3 hour delay which made it bearable.

Well I'm sitting in sunny Portugal at the moment My hand luggage contained a laptop with charger, a Kindle with charger, a Trustfire charger, 6 Li-on batteries, 2 eGo chargers, various plug adaptors, 4 eGo/Riva type batteries, various cartos and a tank and 30ml of juice in my plastic bag. We checked in a case as well which had a couple of mods and a serious selection of juices and atomiser/ cartomiser type things. We should be alright for a week! Ryanair didn't bat an eyelid Even managed a few discrete vapes in the airport and the plane

As to the second hand smoke causing deaths only time will tell on that if they ban smoking completely and if people still die of lung cancer and other things they say are directly and only caused by passive smoking - don't get me wrong I do believe in harm being caused by passive smoking but to read some blurb that is put out mankind will basically live forever if smoking is banned.

Went Easyjet to Alicante in Mar and going again in three weeks. Contacted Easyjet before the last trip and was told that I could not vape on the plane for fear of distressing other passengers. Mailed them back that I was more distressed by hen/stag parties drinking on the plane.
Took two Echos and 30ml of juice, will take at least 60ml next trip due to the desire to vape more abroad. Running low abroad can and was very distressing and "vaping fumes" was my last two days.
Had a vape at Stansted and Alicante, but oh so discretly and wonder why these places are not more open to saying yeah or neigh.
In Spain, most around thought I was doing a crack pipe but invariably broke the ice with them and several possible "conversions" were made.

Just back from Las Vegas flying BA Edinburgh to Heathrow to McCarran and back and never had any probs. I put my Riva 1100 in my fiance's hand bag going through security on the way out just incase (I had a spare in hold luggage) but on the way back I put it in the tray, nobody said anything. I didn't advertise the fact I was puffing away but I did tell surrounding passengers what it was just for etiquette's sake. On the return leg I did notice an American asking airport staff at Heathrow if it was OK to use his and they gave him the nod as if it was a common question asked.
