I never could watch the Grand National, my mum adores horses/grew up riding/clearing them out etc and taught me to ride when i was super young. I remember years ago if a horse broke a leg etc they would put them down, i was often like if the jockey broke his leg...well we best put them out of their misery! But yea, love horses, beautiful creatures! Wow, was looking at the link. Still so many deaths, shockingly sad. You are aware that schooling a horse to accept a rider is in itself cruel? Horses are naturally opposed to having anything on their backs. That's how predators attack them. Hence an unbroken horse will buck a saddle off, or even a light blanket.

Horse riding is cruel, I thinks that's a bit too far. If there was no horse riding there'd be a damn sight less of them in existence.

Cock fighting, dog fighting, donkey abuse, battery hen, ad infinitum.. It all still goes on. I cannot afford to support all animal causes. This year there were no fatalities, horse or jockey, in the grand national steeplechase. I refuse to be a vegetarian or a statistic That was never proven & I still maintain my total innocence.............. On a more serious note, I worked for a while on a stud farm ( waits for comments ) where race horses were bred & trained.........Yes, all horses have it in them to run, but these horses are fed a specific diet along with certain other "additives", which make them pure, solid muscle & highly strung.....Believe me, you don't want to get kicked or bitten by one of these beauties, as I did on a number of occasions......They are huge!!!!!!!!!........I refuse to watch the National, being an animal lover & betting holds no interest to me.....I'm just glad that none of the poor creatures had to be destroyed this year............ "Life...........is just a bowl of tricks!!!!!!"

I was impressed with the stable hands and vets jumping straight onto the horses and cooling them down, making sure they were fit and well, etc I don't actually like horses but they are fine looking animals

I don't want to offend anyone but personally I think this post should be removed as I thought this was a E-Cig forum and not a activist forum, I am against cruelty to all animals but there is a time and a place for it and I personally don't think it is on here as it could course arguments
Sorry if any one takes this the wrong way but just saying

This post was put up because of the Grand National yesterday to highlight the dangers to the horses. There was also another thread put up yesterday about the Grand National so i dont see the difference. Also no offence taken as everyone is entitled to their view.

I eat meat. I've eaten horse meat. Horses in the racing game are treated far better than many humans. Far more horses die in the wild than on a race course.

There are no wild horses in this country are there? So they're all bred for riding/working. Don't follow horse racing, never even ridden one, knew the grand nation was a hard race and dangerous but them figures are quite shocking....beautiful animals.
