I dont mind paying out for quality tv but most of what they show now is either a repeat that was on another channel, or some sort of reality crap. Im not really interested in a bunch of American red necks trying to catch fish or dig something out of a hole. If it wasn't for the other half sky would be long gone.

I have to disagree about content. On demand box sets are now pretty awesome. Sports is for the most part, premium and exclusive content. Movies I think isn't quite the same value but its good with new releases every week. I don't think the old argument of 'its all repeats' can be used anymore.

I've never watched these so why should I contribute to this service through subscription.Sports is for the most part, premium and exclusive content. I occasionally watch a game on Sunday but always watch MOTDMovies I think isn't quite the same value but its good with new releases every week. id guess I've watched about 2 sky movies in 30 years I don't think the old argument of 'its all repeats' can be used anymore. So bearing in mind the above and the fact ive been subscribed to full bifter for pretty much 25 years I think I've Mae the right decision

I'm not criticising the content Tom I'm just saying sky like many others companies sign you up then rely on lazy consumers to keep paying regardless while they keep bumping up the prices

So you dont think that say lets take one example off the top of my head, wheeler dealers being repeated to death on discovery is not taking money for repeats. Or boring everyone to death for years with programmes about 9,11, the titanic, the nazi's, time team off free channel 4, poldark from the stone age on the history channel. If take all the progs that are on right now that they have shown on a previous channel, but because they moved it they'll call it new you are prob left with a dozen that might have something you have not seen. I worked for sky when they first started up and we all said at the time that Murdock was going to kill choice, shame we were right.

There's currently over 300 full series box sets available? Discovery is a channel... its not only on sky and the content isn't set by sky. A large portion of what is on this channel is repeats.

I dont have my sky box connected to the net because im not interested in watching box sets of mostly American rubbish that i would not have watched never mind paid for first time round. And unless im missing something here surely a box set is of something that has already been shown, is that just not a repeat in a box?

But even if not... Content is something that has drastically improved over the last few years. Sky atlantic shows some of the best stuff around straight after release, Game of thrones being an obvious one, with season 5 starting in 2 days time. You can watch that on TV, Computer, mobile... Is it expensive - yes. Is the premium content there - yes. I get that its not for everyone and there is cheaper ways to watch telly but the content is there. I don't mind sitting here and listening to how shit the company i work for is but one thing it does have for the premium price is premium content.

I have to agree with Tom on this one. We watch a lot of tv... normally in different rooms well, during the day at weekends when Mr L overdoses on sport. Mr Lairey is a complete football fanatic - I had to draw the line at paying for BT sport on top of the sports package though. I love all of the US crime and hospital dramas and love being able to catch up on a series that I've missed and is later recommended to me. Yes, it's expensive. But I phoned up in December to say I needed to reduce the cost of our package and managed to get 55% knocked off of the monthly bill. We don't go out much and prefer to spend our "date nights" watching one of the hundreds of movies available. The wonderful thing is, if you don't want to spend the money on subscription TV, then you don't have to. It works for us and that's great. Choice is a wonderful thing!
