On the subject of temperature control and the recently added dual 18650 Kangxin TC mod - the last picture on the listing shows the mod set to 260 F but the wire is glowing. Does that prove temperature control doesn't work on these Could prove not working or be a big connectivity prob, if the board believes the coil is a little higher resistance than it is it will allow it to get to much too hot (not so much with the Evolve boards). The YiHi SX350J has a real prob IMO with this and can seriously go way way over temperature if it reads high from a dodgy connection (it can be overridden with a good connection and cool coil), the Evolve has a refinement mode that will sort it out after a few mins regardless of weather it was a cool coil origionally and even when it is wrong doesn't go so mental as the SX. Who knows with a clone because you can never be 100% it is the same board, but the basic TC seem to be good from Kingpin, the one I had a go on had a limp preheat but i sample proves nothing.

I'll just add that the mini VF is a fine mod, it's got a few build quality issues but nothing to detract from overall usage

Curious what is the build quality issues you mention? The display glass doesn't fit flush. The casing were it meets the 510 has a gap, the green finish has spots where the paint never stuck, no tanks sit flush

just inspecting mine no issues with the paint or the display glass and every device sits flush. There is a tiny gap where the casing meets the plate near the 510 never noticed that before, bummer lol that's gonna bug me now.

That's unfortunate, @tedster & @jc72. Mine is pretty much perfect when it comes to visible assembly (doubly unfortunate because I'm all about function over form and I've got a visually perfect one). My concern over the battery threading was unfounded and it's bedded in well. A small niggle over how the button assembly moves but that's common with all these new fangled electronic devices.
I haven't built my own nickel coil yet - prolonged depressive episode with the odd set of good days removes interest /motivation /focus.... ...however, this, a subtank mini with a OCC nickel coil, a Provari 2.5 and a KF4 clone whose cotton as lasted surprisingly well has largely kept me going (minimal dual fueling) . I still recommend the Kangxin.

Is unfortunate tomj777 especially as its right next to the 510 so if an atty badly leaks and juice gets in there could spell curtains for the device. Ah well I only paid £25 for it new so no great loss just have to keep my eye on it now that I know it's there.

Yes, of course. I can see the exposure. A leak at some point is inevitable... Can you seal it?
