tc coil help

ok ive got a mini invader (tfd) coming and i would like to try out this tc milarky
the question is what wire is good for sub tanks,erl,s and drippers
also i know you have to space it and be careful about clamping it but what sort of ohms should i be looking for

oh and has anybody got a link for this here posh cotton pads as i cant find the thread

Not got any of those atties, but first check the lowest supported ohms in temp mode (0.1 for the DNA) add % and go over to the steam engine coil calc. Put in the ohms watts, coil diameter, dual, single, twisted and adjust the wire size (in AWG at first) to get the heat flux icon green. I find that for dual coils you need very thin wire, I use twisted 0.16 and triple twisted 0.16 for the Orchid, but have to make big coils to get the ohms high enough. Not done any single coil builds lately and others can give you better advise on that, I would guess 0.25 - 0.32 mm). Tempered from stealthVape is more springy and kanthal like (unless you make it glow then u loose the temper) and good for micro-coils, but where you wrap the coil around the wick standard is a pleasure to work with and easier than Kanthal.

If temp limit cut's in too quick try a bigger coil, you can get plenty of vapour at 410 F.  You  may fine that you liquid has a sweet spot for flavour so try 390 F to 430 F and again if you have good flavour at a lower temp, but not enough vapour: bigger coil.

I use 29awg nickel and on a 2mm former 9 wraps will hit me in at about .14ohms
3mm former = 7 wraps
I don't need to drag more than 20w from the dna or the sx chips to hit 400f comfortably.
For the subtanks I would go with the larger diameter coil but the earl I would go for 2mm coils

I can get micro coils to work easily enough but I have to admit that I get much better results from a spaced coil and more so after rewicking, you will struggle to keep a microcoil in good shape as you pull new cotton through.
As VapingBad says, you need to experiment with the juice that you're vaping to find the best temperature that it operates under.

i take it you still go for thicker wire in drippers and thinner in norm tanks

Probably the opposite thicker for single coil tanks, if you like dual coils you likely won't be using thick wire as you need to be at or above the min W for temp sensing at full Watts. I start with wick size, then num coils/wicks and watts and use the calc to see what will do the best job.

I echo what VapingBad and blakey have said. For single coil you won't need anything thicker than 0.32mm my favorite is 0.25 twisted which is between 6-8 wraps for 2-3mm dia and just above 1.0 ohms (edit should be 0.1ohms)

For dual coils you 'll need 0.20mm or less otherwise the coil will be way to big. I've also found that spacing the coils gives best results

From my experience the annealed wire is softer and best for wraping around a wick but deforms easily so pulling cotton through it is tricky. Tempered is still slightly softer and less springy than kanthal but better suited to cotton wicks.

I think the most important thing to take note of is the heat flux that VB mentioned. hitting the heat flux that suits you is fundamental to getting the best vape imo

And don't pulse them until they glow orange, just turn temp control up to late 500 F so you can just see a dark red glow if you need to burn the old juice of or trying a touching coil. Touching coils do work, BUT if they get disturbed (hard knock or re-wick they can easily develop shorts across loops especially with the thinner wires, so probably not worth the bother.

Probably a good place to start & you can always twist it if you need thicker in a hurry.  @scooby described the diff between the grades better than I can, but getting them very hot (glowing orange, maybe red to) will turn hardened/tempered into soft/annealed again.

so spaced coils ,not over clamped,no pulsing till it glows and have a look at this calck thing

dont suppose i can do my fave clapton coils with it

im just wanting to see what all the hype is about so want to give it a fair shot i cant see it being a day and night diff
i think the erl and sub tank are going to be the attys i try on it then if its worth the effort the doge(maybe with a clapton sm056pullhair)

You can do Clapton coils, people whit too much time on their hands have. And twisting/working the wire makes it stiffer.

i just love how much flavor they can kick out and i knock them up in 2 mins with a drill

0k ordered .2,.3 and .4 hard 
some of that there posh cotton
off to the hardware store to buy some 2 and 3 mm bolts for to do the spacing

will not be trying daft coils for a bit but i am daft
