FAKE Nitecore D4 Chargers!!! Check your D4 is Genuine!

They are fakes. An addition to the site has been made on Nitecore's behalf.

The fakes are identified by the mains lead. Genuines have a full brass earth pin as required by BS1363, and the plugs are fitted by hand. Fakes are supplied with a moulded plug. The genuine leads do have a moulded strain reliever fitted, because it's a universal fitting for EU/UK/USA plugs. If you can remove the plug with a screwdriver it's genuine.

Those who bought from FT? I'm worried now cos no 'Authentic' in the descriptions and clearly moulded plugs on the leads.

Although the alert shows a lead with a red fuse holder, it has been confirmed that ALL genuine UK Digichargers have a plug fitted seperately by hand.

Those with genuine D4s can now relax. Everyone else has fakes!! Needless to say Nitecore will not be exchanging ANY units.

Yes, electricalsafetyfirst.org have updated their recall info... it appears that they may be fake Nitecore D4's and there's a spelling mistake on the box.

If this ESF org are a respected outfit you'd think they would get their facts sorted before slating a respected product, they may have updated it now but the original alert suggested it was a defect with the genuine article. Mud sticks after all 
And no I don't own a Nitecore.

That's it. They're not trusted, certainly ain't good at giving the advice.

Rapex database is more trusted, however in this case they have dropped the same bo**ock. ESF have just copy-pasted the info.

An Update (from AJC I assume):

I've been following the thread on AAE-C today and thank you for updating on the situation. I did try and join so I could post but it is awaiting approval.

Obviously as we only just found out about this I want to make sure the correct information is provided. One thing that concerns me is people validating their charger by the plug provided. It is possible eBay sellers etc could be selling genuine chargers with fake plugs if their original supply had plugs from another country and they swapped them out. Also a counterfeit charger could easily be supplied with a genuine UK plug.

The spelling mistake on the box looks to me like the most reliable indicator so far and I have emailed the manufacturer to point this out. There have been some problems with copies of the i4 Intellicharger in the past, which are easily tested with a magnet:

It could very well be we will need to do a similar guide for the D4 but would need to get hold of one first to see if there are fakes out there not using copper for the slides and positive contact points.

All Nitecore chargers supplied by our dealers or directly by ourselves will have genuine UK plugs.

I will continue to keep you updates as and when I get any information.

One faker company has made a mistake on the box. How many haven't? I know what it takes to become a dealer for a company such as Nitecore.

So they have signed up to clarify matters, we really could do with them here. Chrissie, jess can we get them in pronto?

I skimmed the ukv thread. Someone mentioned the D4s on FT. I can't find a single one listed as 'Authentic'. I could be blind tho

True but none listed as "styled" either. Regardless I think I'd only buy a charger from the UK.

The early FT ones were listed as authentic I'm sure (I bought one) but they only came with US or EU plugs
