Out of interest why is it best to use untouched wire with the kuro? As annealing the wire makes it more pliable?

igual best to leave it as it is in the kuro, the tension is made via the twisting motion with one end held under the thumb or finger. When you get the full number of wraps the top cap is really springy and will almost spring back if that makes any sense! I always do one mor wrap than necessary and then unwind the first wrap because it isn't bound in so as to speak, once I unwrap it I pull what is left on that side down with pliers to just tighten up that leg.

Exactly the same as my method. I find the Kuro works better on larger diameter wire - anything smaller than .3 tends to overlap, whereas especially for twisted coils it works a treat, and .35 upwards is a doddle too

I have the 3 different Kuru coilers and the winding jig but for me the little blue screwdriver works perfectly every single time.

Mostly I wrap the coil around the wick (ss rope), but for cotton I like the Coil Master as you can take the rod out to support the coil while installing, but you can still do just as good coil on any bit of rod. Ceramic rod set would be nice for thinner gauges so you can heat the coil to anneal it to shape with the rod in it.

thx for all comments was ..sydsut do you have one or just saw and liked ..had a look and liked it because it has the five different head size attachments unlike the others that put to different diameters poles into to one diameter head ..

I have all 3 and you know what banditruss? I only use the jig now. The others are just sooooo fussy over tension and pressure, so I settled with the one that just works

Yes I've got one and find it very good for drippers and kanger heads where I mostly use micro coils. Tanks I've been moving to spaced coils and of course none of the coilers do that.
