Yes, the Chequers, under a bridge and on a bend with a green out front, nice pub. Oak rings a bell for the one in Iffley village, also a nice pub and I remember it sold really good ham or cheese rolls, rare to get anything good to eat in a pub then. Probably went to many you mentioned but it was along time ago, left Pressed Steel, BL then, in '76.
Lived in Eynsham for a while, enjoyed my time there, plenty of pubs, some of them quite good. I'm in Lambourn now so not that far away. 2 pubs here are so so but there's a nice one is in the next village, 25min walk across the fields so a nice summer walk.
Shoulder of Mutton in Wantage has 10 real ales, and about the same amount keg 'Craft' beers and keg beers from Fullers so I tend to visit there.
Sounds like you made a wise choice regarding your musical destination.

We are very fortunate down here in Cornwall. As well as the well-known Spingo in Helston, served in the Blue Anchor, there are dozens of micro-breweries and a resurgence in small breweries serving 'local' ales which don't travel more than 10 or 15 miles from brewery to pub. Also we have Skinners and Sharps ) although the later has been bought out by a big American conglomerate), which concentrate on good beer rather than mass-produced dross. And mention should be made of St. Austell Brewery which also turns out good beer, namely Tribute and Tinners, both of which are now freely available throughout the country. I really must clean out my kit and get another brew on the go - nothing better than popping out to the garage for a pint! Got absolutely spanked on Spingo in Helston -Blue Anchor I believe-and failed to hit the dartboard!! Now in a new micropub drinking Plateau by Burning Sky and vaping (no probs here) a very nice Castle Long courtesy of Lairey

Spingo is lethal - always go for 'Middle', the medium strength ale. 'Top' is akin to banging your head with a lumphammer, and a guaranteed hangover no matter how little you drink! I'm sure that *-SARIN-* has some experience of the Blue Anchor's ales which he will share with us!

It always ends in tears or a cell, the kennels are not the spingo drinkers friend as i have found out all too often. The stuff's weird and gives you a different sort of drunken experience, makes your balance really screwed up. I attended an ale festival there a few years ago, left, got run over on the way home and ended up in the hospital in Truro without a wallet or mobile phone. No one was at home and i ended up having to phone my parents at 0530 in the morning for a lift. That was an awkward journey!

I KNEW it! - *-SARIN-* would have a sordid tale of debauchery to tell regarding the fabled Spingos! Very brave of you to tell Simon, I'm sure there are more tales to come too
