No, nothing sinister, he used to be a wholesaler but has started selling to the public, I've had some stuff from him, great prices and quick delivery, at the moment he is only contactable on Facebook, no website or shop. Facebook linkYou need to add him as a friend to see his timeline, he may be setting up a website soon but is in no rush

Everyone on the Facebook buy/sell vape group recommends contacting John Bold if you want something. But having asked a few who have bought from him they've said he was selling the M80 for £40.
In sorely tempted. Do I want to order one from the UK and be impatient or save the £12 and order from China. That £12 will get me a kanger subtank mini clone from FT....

I don't know what is going on with the M80, but it does regulate the temperature. It may not work in the same way as others, but on mine it limits the temperature in normal vaping. It also seems to do it with kanthal. It will burn dry cotton, and it probably won't stop a dry hit, but with a tank of juice it limits the temperature with no problem. Add that to the 80w battery and you have a great mod. For the price it can't be beat I don't think.

All mods limit the temp Bobsbeer, but it`s indirectly via the wattage control assuming the wick always stays wet. If you set the coil temp to 450 degrees, it simply should not burn cotton which normally burns at 470 ish. If you have a tank of juice and top up before it runs dry, the temp control wont come in on any mod if your wicking is okay and your wattage selection is right. The reason these are so cheap now is because it doesn`t work IMHO. You wont see another 80 watt mod with 4400 of battery anywhere near this price even without temp control. When it comes down to it, it`s a great 80 watt mod at a fantastic price. Looking forward to mine getting a lot of use when on holiday soon No doubt others will disagree with me. The mmajority of venders dont sell the mod as a temp control mod anymore because they dont want to have to refund people.

Yes it is limiting the wattage or at least bringing it down. I can set the watts to say 80, and the temp to 350. It brings the watts down, and the vape is noticeably cooler. Very noticeable when compared to when the TC is off. I'm sure it doesn't work on a dry wick, or a dry tank, but while not perfect by any means it does have an effect. What the actual temperature is I would not have a clue, but by varying the set temperature you can adjust the vape temperature. As I said, far from the perfect system they advertised, but a step in the right direction. For the price it's a cracking mod. DNA40 it isn't though.

can you get a fast a fast reacting temp sensor on your coil Bobsbeer, though the thermal mass of any probe will probably throw out any readings you could measure? IR reading perhaps??

I don't have an IR thermometer. I do have PT100 sensors and one wire ones, but neither would be small enough to get a reading. To be honest I don't really need to know the temperature. I fiddled around with the temperature till I got it to where I liked the vape. Then I looked at the watts and set it at that. To be honest while I say it's bringing the temp to where I set it, it isn't of much value. I could have done the same by changing the watts.
As others have said, the real value of TC as I see it, is preventing dry hits when you run out of juice. And this mod won't stop that.

I got a temp sensor meter from somewhere, Gearbest I think and while it is very small and does work if you push the tiny probe into the wick where it enters the coil, the reaction time is too high. It`s not too high to make an adjustment to the wattage circuit to control it, but sluggish, and impractical in this scenario. You would need atties with at least three contacts and probably coils pre wicked with a sensor built in. that might be feasible but you wouldn`t be using your own coils and they would be very expensive. Probably not as good as what we have now IMO.
