I just had a look at the spring compression on 2 of my VTR's and they seem to be a total of ~3mm of travel from uncompressed to fully compressed , so 3mm magnets would be to much IMHO , I would go for 1.5mm as they don't need much more to make them stay properly.

The Vendor that sold me my first one said that that maybe the case with certain flat top batteries , as there is no adjustment for the hinge and sometimes the negative end of the battery gets slightly dented and loses connection.It gets very annoying sucking on thin air when you haven't realised the mod has turned itself off , lol

Thats how it should sit, right up to that inside line. Just measure how far it sits from the line you see inside the tube and im sure i have a couple that will do the job.

I guess I am the lucky one, as my VTR2 (fixed wheel) is now about 13 months old now, and had constant use, with no problems with the battery door.
Rarely after inserting the battery it won't switch on, but just clicking open the door and firmly closing it will make the connection and all is well.
