Always fancied a mod with an SVB button/screen layout. Really wanted to do an SX but well see how hard it is to get the DNA in the smallish box first . Chose a plastic project box 75 x 50 x 27. I like the plastic for the light weight compared to the hammonds and there already black which is always a bonus.

Good luck with this one, I'm certainly watching. Can you put a full parts list and suppliers names for me. Cheers.

Most of the bits and bobs Ive had in the knick knacks box for a while, most of which are from modmakers site. The sprung 510 I had from FT as it has a 90deg attachment so it will miss the switch. Quality seems the same as the cheap 1s I used to get from stealth vape so fingers crossed it works out ok.

What about the chips etc. I've got a couple of DNA30 boards now, but is the other board for charging? Have you a wiring diagram for it? Where did you get the box?

The evolv charging board only has two wires to be connected, a positive and a negative and is wired directly to specific terminals on the DNA30 chip

Box is off of fleabay done a couple of builds in em, bit to short to get a battery holder in em but is easy enough to make your own contacts up or use a tabbed 18650 . (modmaker has the same size ABS boxes in different colours ) gregb highlighted the wiring for the charge boards, mine are old FT DNA boards but modmakers have them in various shapes and sizes. If you have the room these are a great charge board, may be using 1 in mine instead of the small FT board. They can also be wired direct to battery holder terminals for other types of builds.

Thanks for that, my shopping baskets are getting full again. On a side note, I've seen a little talk about fitting a "buck convert or step down module" is that basically a fancy potentiometer? I just can't get my head around that one.

I can find a diagram of a box/mod and can follow it to put 1 together but when the boffs start talking about the technical bits in it all I can hear in me head is the teacher off charlie brown. I havent a clue what there on about half the time lol.

bigd & phtumshk you need to decide which board before looking at circuit diagrams. The SX350 is the easiest as up/down buttons not required, but it is very big and you have no flexibility on how you mount it. I would go for a DNA, VE Jason has DNA30s @ £20 ATM, or with temp limiting there are DNA40 with small or large screens and the cheaper DNA25. The Raptors and similar are for higher current and need you to correctly select the other parts of the circuit and more for people who are comfortable with basic electronics. Here is a wiring diagram I did for a member for the DNA40, it is quite simple

For a beginner I'm going cheap, just so only melt and destroy as little as possible. I've gone the dna30 route, already have a couple of boards. Also got a vamo 5? board, and an istick 20 style board. I've got cheap spring loaded 510's coming, got various fire buttons mini on off switches, small up/down buttons, wires, fuses and resistors. It's deciding which way to go first. I'm still amassing other stuff like potentiometers, okr-t10 USB chargers and housings. I've pages of wiring diagrams saved up to screw my head up. I just keep picking up the information here to help me along. All the tips and tricks are copied away to my own file. Big thanks to everyone for answering my sometimes dumb questions, but every little helps and stops me from going bang.

Battery contacts and charge board in. Just need to go and buy a box of tic-tacs (cherry passion) as I dont have any suitably thin perspex for the DNA screen aperture.

Wow, what a mission. Managed to cram some over size wiring into the box. Was going to epoxy the switches in but after a 2 hour struggle to get the screen (kinda) straight I just went for the hot glue as it was already on. Just wrapped some tape around the charge board for now till I can find the silicone sealant to cover the live contacts. Liking the front button and you hardly need to touch it and it fires. Great midi factor mod, pretty happy with it. I think for the SX though Im going to use the hammond box.
