So got a replacement and after fighting it for a morning and 4 rebuilds later ive got a working Nextgen clone, thing is im underwhelmed with the result so far, im 99% sure its my fault, im still learning how to build gennies.
So any tips or ideas on why the flavour is lacking and im getting the odd dry-ish hit?
My build is...
200 mesh 18mm x 40mmm .32mm 4/5 wraps
Comes out at .9 ohms
Thanks

200 mesh is what I'd use for a VG juice, if the juice is a higher pg up to about 50-50 in ratio then I use 400-500mesh May be the cause of your dry hits

I find that it's all in the way i wrap my mesh too. Some wicks work better than others & i havn't quite put my finger on the secret yet. Trial & error with some serious consideration in the build each time & keeping a mental note on what you've done. Then there are different attys that all behave a little differently. I've never read a single testement about a correct way, maybe we're all just fumbling in the dark. When my genny is set up well it's the best vaper ever.

Cheers, thats what makes me more eager to get it right, so far its very muted. One thing i thought is ive wrapped the wick too tight, maybe thats it. Im also going to make the air holes a touch bigger and try a different mesh.

You want to be loose enough to able to twist the mesh within the coil, but tight enough that mesh doesn't move when you shake the atty.

Maybe also ive wrapped the coil to tight around the mesh? that would stop the wicking i guess.

As for the air holes, a good genesis that has a tight draw - has it for a reason so if you go too open you will destroy the vape. I'd say to drill out a little is sometimes a necessity but try & go up in increments, harder to put back than to drill out. if you opent the air hole too much it will change the atty & then the thing will only be any good for cotton builds (Yuk)

When I used gennies I used to wrap the mesh around a thin matchstick of cotton , it improved the wicking, wicking in the gennies uses capillary action so your juice needs to be quite thin, if using high VG then try and thin it with a little distiled water or a touch of good old Vodka furbs

I found this atomiser to work best with a wick similar to your ( shorter, maybe 16 mm) to make sure the mesh doesn't spread out at the bottom of the post. This will block the holes and it will have issues wicking. I would try shorter. The clincher is a another wrap 25*6 of 400 mesh at the top. So the visible part of the wick where you will wrap your coil will have the 2. That will take on more liquid and I find it boosts the flavour. When you wrap it put no tension on the wire. You should notice only the top and bottom coils light up if it is too tight.
These clones will struggle with high VG. Mine starts to complain about 70/30. 50/50 and bellow it wicks like a champ.
Keep at it, it delivers great flavour and it has not leaked on me once!

Thanks, yep thats what is happening to me when i coil, the lowest wrap is heating up much quicker than the rest. Also how tight are you wraping the mesh, i get the feeling im wrapping that too tight too.

Its really spinning the Atty but don't put any tension on the wire, minimal. I have a tendency to do the same.... The mesh should slide easily from the rod. It shouldn't drop on its own but slide easily. Have you tried flaming the wire first. Makes it more malleable and you tend to strangle the coil less. Beware of the length of the mesh. This one makes a real difference. These clone won't take a wick as long as the original. It's most likely that your coil wraps are too tight, try wrapping evenly with minimal tension as ervi says Mine took a fair bit of pulsing and tinkering with the coils to get it glowing evenly Not too sure I want to try nickel in this unit
