i used the 1st method i posted for yonks and it worked well but still weeped a fair amount
the pancake method is just so wrong and it shouldn't work without leaking but it do and you can run daft wattage without dry hits,you gotta try next time you rewick,but with cotton balls(my kayfun has had half a tank in it for a week and not a drop of juice has leaked/weeped

That first video that decoy posted is what got me sorted with the KF. Have altered diameter of coil to 4mm as occasionally it misbehaved. Since doing that its been working well, and my build hasn't changed for last six months or more.

As mentioned much earlier you can get an air pocket trapped in the channel between the pre-soaked wick and the bottom of channel. This can be shifted by placing a finger over air-hole and giving it a sharp toke and you we see an air bubble rise, indicating that at least some of that air pocket has been replaced with juice. only try this a couple of times, if you do it too much youll end up filling the whole thing to the top of deck and your back to flooding.

It either tends to want a new wick every battery change 

 
This, I take, it is due to it burning? and may well indicate that trapped air pocket.

You shouldn't need to change wick after flooding, a saturated wick is what you want.

Flooding isn't caused from juice dripping off the wick into the air-hole. Its from the juice level rising to high inside the chamber, until it flows onto the top deck where the coil sits and into the air-hole.

If its burning right up to the point it starts flooding, then that would indicate to me that my wick was strangled as it went through the coil.

As decoy says at the bottom of that quote above, just use cotton balls from Boots(unscented,unbleached).
People used cotton balls for a long time with no problem, if the setup doesn't work with cotton balls, then changing to cellulose, rayon or other wont fix it. As youll find the amount that use through the coil will change depending on the materials properties, and will just throw you off working out what works.

EDIT: as an after-thought, not all clones are good copies of the original, there are some shockers out there that will leave a bad taste in your mouth. (forgive the double meaning there). Take good look at it and see if you can see anything that may be causing your problems, bearing in mind that it uses a vacuum principle to maintain the juice at a certain level and prevents all the juice you pour in from pouring back out through the airhole. When taking a draw, the pressure drop due to you sucking, causes the juice to rise up the channels to soak the bottom of the wick again. When you stop it pulls the juice back down and a little air that will enter the reservoir each time  to replace the juice, maintaining that equilibrium. Sometimes a badly cut channel or an ill fitting sleeve or even too short a height of channel or from bottom of deck to top can be the reason one of these wont function properly.

I think I'm going back to my original wicking set up and taking a sharp toke when I change batteries (with finger over air hole) till I see a bubble just to be on the safe side. This is a lot easier than changing the wick 2-3 times a day cos it's flooding

That was the only problem - the dry hit when I change batteries on my first method

This is mine Jane, feed the wick through the chimney, trim and put a bit of juice on the coil and wick, push the wick down, carefully, so you dont disturb the coil, put the kayfun back together, fill up, and away you go, any little leak from air inlet, just a little blow down the inlet, wish a tissue over the drip tip, then a couple of vapes and the leak has stopped, hope this helps

Hi mod destroyer, yes I've got it sussed thanks to everyones help and videos. I'm definitely in happy vape land now. Love the 2 kayfuns I've got, they've completely transformed my vaping. Everything else (clearomisers) has now paled into the blue!

Well I managed to get the kayfun to continually fire yesterday for an hour (I was napping). Only the Lord stopped an explosion. Another 'general' thing with rebuilding. Make sure your coil does not touch the deck!!! That was my problem. Apart from nic od's - worse thing I've had in vapeland for 4 years. Literally mod was so hot could barely hold it to take the battery out - thanks to VE Jason 's side kick and Cameron for helping me figure out the problem....Deck had to be cleaned (why have an ultrasonic cleaner when rubbing alcohol and a cotton bud works perfectly fine?) but now back in happy vape land. Just wish my phone line was so easily fixed!

Thats exactly what I found happens when when using a small diameter coil. I use a 4mm bar and 5-6 turns of .45mm wire will get you one side or the other of 1.0 Ohm. You can get a good size roll of cotton through it without 'choking' the cotton. If you 'fluff' the ends up by blow hard on them after you trim, you get it to from 2 big fluffy pillows on each side.

Funny cos i had taken these a few days ago because i was thinking of doing a picture guide, but was umming and arring as to whether it was relevant now everyone seems to be moving on to the K4.

Youll never catch me with 1 of them new fangled Kfun 4s.
I much prefer the first 1 with the single air hole and no extra screws.
I must admit though my Kfun experience has hit new heights  since discovering the K-fill tool.

Kayfill tool

I made my own as all my caps are drilled through but Ive used the FT Kfill tool and have had minimal spillage from it considering the size of the hole in my top caps to tool.
So for a couple of £ worth a try to see if it will work with the clone Kfuns as it makes filling them a 2 second job..

That is a pretty useful gadget above. Only today I filled up and after a few tokes realized that I should have done a 'dry burn' and wick, as after a week of use i had been getting a few bad tasting hits from it. I could have done with that to save a few ml of juice.
