No but emailed them and they said they would only state the total value of package, so I would assume it's $35.99 but not sure if the postage will be added... I guess I need to think the worst. Thanks for the quick reply Perpetua, as I have the item in basket in another window.

It ought to be the value of the goods only Pacer . . . . shipping costs aren't a consideration for Customs. The threshold used to be anything over $19 that attracted duty, so I'd not expect that part to be too ruinous - the sting will be the ' handling charge ' that Parcelforce make to inform you of your charges.

yes postal costs are included by uk customs for VAT calculations, looks like about £6-7 may be charged (20%), then depending on the courier there could be a handling charge too. Hopefully you will get a call/txt/email with a link to prepay to avoid delivery delays, if not it may arrive by snail mail, worst case you will need to drive out to a depot to pay and pick up the delivery. Though they are getting more joined up these days so look out for the call/text.. Tho it may just fly under the radar?? fingers crossed

I'm think max Pacer . . . . the last parcel I had from the US that attracted duty, £8.00 of the charges were for being notified! The duty costs themselves were very reasonable.

Contradict all you like phatfil, I don't pretend to be the font of all knowledge on Customs excess charges . . . . it'll depend on what is stated on the Customs Declaration form as to the extent of the costs. Just about everything I've bought from the US in the past has attracted charges, which is why I don't buy from there now.

Think I will give it a go, it's 236ml of ready made Spearmint... At the moment my vendor over the pond is happy to put on package under $15 but this new vendor is way way cheaper so even if I get clobbered it's still cheaper than the current supplier. Thanks phatfil & Perpetua.

I am afraid if it's Parcel Force they held my parcel until I paid the fee, it didn't even get to the local sorting office before they wanted their pound of flesh, also notification came days after it had arrived in the UK, why the hell they don't inform you like DHL and just email you before hand God knows, crap service. Total time 10 days, 2 to get from China to UK , 2 days in customs, 6 days waiting for Parcelfarce.
DHL example : one of the Kangxin vapour flask clones Robby and I got from Kangxin was sent by DHL, as soon as the parcel left China I had an email detailing the cost, paid online, delivery was uninterrupted and delivered in 3 days

Hmm, you lot are lucky having such cheap customs charges. If anything comes here via DHL we have to pay a minimum of 30 euros, even if the goods were only something like between 5 to 10 euros. We even got charged customs for an order placed in the Canaries motherland of Spain would you believe I could not believe or understand why we had to pay customs even after we paid the equivalent of your VAT on the goods from Spain, when you consider also that Spain's VAT rate is 20% and ours is only maximum 7%

You'll pay VAT on anything over £15 ($23) and those figures include p&p.
You'll pay VAT and duty on anything over £135 so that wont affect you.
The cheaper package should be no additional cost as long as postage was $5 or less, the other will be £4.60+ 20% of the p&p, and another £8 on top for Royal fail handling, so that means £12.60 + 20% of p&p.
There is no way Royal fail can justify this preposterous handling charge for a postie filling in a form which is basically the same as the card you get if you are out when a signed for delivery is made, and you just need to hand over cash at a post office. £1-£2 max I could forgive, but £8 is extortion.
