I and a few others have noticed that the draw on the VES is a bit on the tight side. This is because the skirt on the VES fits very snugly against the cone threads on the Riva battery. So I modified mine to allow more airflow through the device and made a photo tutorial (because I'm a bit sad ). Tools: You will need - a round riffler file (about 3mm)
- a junior hacksaw (preferably with a good blade)
- time (about an hour)
Owners of the appropriate power tools may need less time.

And of course a brand new Vision Ego Stardust Notice the four flat cutouts on the bottom. We will be attacking two on opposite sides. Firstly round them out a bit with the file, this helps with getting the hacksaw cuts started without it skittering around all over the place.

Next hacksaw out two slots. Measure them against you battery and keep going until they are just longer than the cone threads.

Then file out the slots to the base of the cut. I'm not sure if this is absolutely necessary, but it looks a lot neater, and guarantees ample airflow.

Having wide cuts also makes it easier to access the centre pin to pull it down a bit and make easier contact on the battery. Assembled you can see there is a gap above the cone threads. Fill and enjoy

Totally agree with Perpetua - brilliant guide, Domestic. Just hoping I don't end up having to try and actually do it!!
Do you think there might be anything to be gained by just filing out from the inside to improve the thread clearance without having to actually cut a chunk out? Seems a bit drastic and I'm not too confident I could manage it as neatly as you've done.
I have a couple of these on the way but now trying quite hard not to get my hopes up too high for them. Having been impressed by people saying they were a really good 'plug & play' carto which you could even re-wick/re-coil if so inclined, they're starting to look/sound rather less plug & play. And some of them are springing leaks. Sigh. Why don't things turn out to be quite as brilliant as they sound?

Good walkthrough domesticextremist but have you tried just drilling a 2mm hole through the collar?
I prefer the draw the way it is.

Yeah, drilling out a couple of holes would work, but I didn't really have the tools to do that safely on a curved metal object. (I want to hang on to my ration of 10 fingers).
Besides the sawing and filing can be done whilst sitting 'listening' to the tellly, and I found it quite theraputic.

Hi there guys, I don't want to urinate on the proverbial bonfire :-[ but to loosen the draw on the vision ego clearomizer you can turn the screw/pin that connects to the battery counterclockwise... I thought it would be a good idea to post this as i nearly started hacking at my clearo upon reading this but luckily decided to do some further reading. Luke

Hi Luke & Welcome to AAE-C That's a simpler method & less likely to end with loss of fingers & temper

Luke Well this applies to the very earliest Vision that came out, where the skirt was very tight against the Ego threads. The centre post was not threaded so no amount of rotation would adjust it. There have been several revision since then and my procedure is no longer necessary.

Turning the center pin to line up the slots on the center pin to the hole in the 510 threads only makes a marginal difference to the draw which may be sufficient for some..It also works for cartos.
Drilling a couple of holes/or sawing in a notch or filing down the slots works best for really looseing the draw, especially for fatter RIVA connectors. Whatever works to suit users needs is best.
