Hi All, This is not a instruction post, just a account of how I fared. I have re built my first EVS (Ego Vision Stardust). It took about 15 minutes as this is my first attempt, further re-wicks should take no more than 10 minutes, tops! Materials used: Resistance wire from Deesigner - Thanks Dee! cost £1 for a couple of meters Wick from: www.cloud9vaping.co.uk/epages/yxve46fvrnud.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/yxve46fvrnud/Products/MarkT-WICK-1m cost £1.95 + p&p for 1m probably used about 10cm or wire which was cut down to size and about 6cm of wick. I tripled up the wick and used a straightened paperclip to wind the coil around which at about 4 - 5 turns measures 2.5 ohm. I watched the videos which were very helpful and when I had fitted the wick before fully assembling used my meter to check all was okay. I trimmed the wick ends before re-assembling leaving about 3mm poking out of either side. I wetted the O-ring around the base with juice before re-assembling which made it much easier to re-fit the centre post assembly. I checked the resistance again to make sure there were no shorts when re-assembled then filled it and started vaping. It tasted a bit "funky" at first while the impurities burnt off the wick but that taste has all but disappeared now and it vapes great! I would thoroughly recommend anyone that has a modicum of DIY ability to try this. The hardest part was getting the EVS apart in the first place. I am amazed how well it vapes! Cost is pennies plus your time. Tools used: Hammer and 5mm drill to push out center post. Use the blunt end against the top of the center post, tap it to push the center post assembly out. Scissors to trim wick and coil wire. Watch makers screwdriver to push wire legs in position. Multimeter Paperclip to form coil on.

Hi des, Just out of curiosity, roughly how long did you have the clearomizer before you had to do this. And, have you needed to clean it before, before rewicking, and if you have cleaned it before, did you take it apart to clean it or just wash it out? Many questions, sorry. I have the same clearomizers and I'm just looking ahead to see when il need to buy some wick and try it myself. I hope they last quite a length of time, the missus will go nuts if another parcel lands at the door. She must think I'm spending loads. Thanks in advance des.

This was the first EVS I had, it was working fine but I did a clean then a dry burn which left it very poor. That is why I recommend not to do a dry burn it seems 50% of people that do a dry burn FUBAR them. I had another one which I have been using pretty non stop for about a week and have not dry burned it, just rinsed out if it makes my e-liquid go brown and it's still going strong. I should imagine if you take good care of one it should last at least a month or 2 and now I have tried re-wicking and replacing the coil they should last ages.

Congrats Des! There's something really satisfying about building your own coil and it working!
