I got toots to wick one when teaching her rebuilding and we just wicked to the inside of the holes. As long as there are no gaps to let juice flow into the air hole, it works well. Not got mine yet (on order), so not actually done it myself, but I don't see why it wouldn't work wicking OCC style. Taifun's use that method and they work royally.

Received my FT KST mini 'styled' RBA deck - and it's OK - but nowhere near as good as the 'Real Thing'. It works OK but just not as easy to build on - got some of the FT Roll Coils and was a hassle to build on the 'styled' deck but easy on the original. So OK for a cheap trial or as a back-up (as i have an old tank with a broken deck) - but not as easy as the 'Real Thing'
