Was initially doing it by 2mg/ml every 3-4 weeks (way back in Dec/Jan)...then 9 days ago only left it 12 days and decided to reduce...Now I've had my fill for the day (near enough) have have reduced again after 9 days Only vape 3ml a day as is (have been monitoring it for a few days) and 2 of those are before 1pm.... Have already had about 2ml today.... Any input welcome For folks info I started on 36mg/ml today I reduced from 22mg/ml to 20mg/ml - when I tried reducing in my early vaping days it ended in tears. But now after 6 months am wondering if I'm more addicted to the habit than the actual nic?Jane

Looks like you need more nic in the mornings than evenings which is very similar to mine..
I normally vape 24mg e-juice in the mornings and switch to 18mg in the evenings..I also go for predominantly PG menthol mixes cause they give more of a TH..
A 60PG/40VG 18 mg strength e-juice is a lot less satisfying than a 80PG/20VG 18mg e-juice of the same flavour for me.
It might be an idea to switch to menthol juices and see if you can reduce your nic intake that way?

I genuinely think this is probably something that only YOU can possibly decide for yourself, Jane. The prime factor has to be how you feel about it - it certainly sounds as if you have been maintaining a fairly steady 'comfort level' even after the reductions and if you don't find you are creeping back upwards in liquid usage to compensate then it is fine FOR YOU.
Do you have the intention of cutting it out completely in the end, or are you just working towards the lowest dose necessary to maintain your equilibrium? If it's the former, at some point you will presumably need to begin reducing the frequency of how often you vape and it will be the volume of liquid which begins to reduce as well as (or instead of) the strength.
Some people (and I think I may be coming round to this notion) feel that the alleged addictiveness of nicotine may not be as great as is widely believed, or at least not once you have begun using nicotine IN ISOLATION rather than the cocktail of nicotine plus other psychoactive tobacco alkaloids along with whatever additives the tobacco companies put in tobacco and cigarettes which increase or enhance the addictiveness of tobacco smoke.
As a result it does seem apparent that people who have a definite intention of separating themselves from tobacco smoke to begin with and then eventually from all nicotine use do find it much easier to achieve this objective by using vaping as an intermediate step. Presumably all of the additional components you were getting in tobacco smoke will leave your body over time so will no longer be reinforcing your desire to smoke or vape. I'm basing this opinion on having noted other people's experiences with making the transition through a number of forums for over 3 years now, and also personal interactions with former smokers who became vapers then stopped doing that as well.
I've even come across the situation where people have changed to vaping very successfully and happily, then sometime later decided they simply can't be bothered with carrying on mucking about with vaping and continuing to spend money on it as it just doesn't seem that important to them to continue doing it.
Given your previous experience, I'd be inclined to feel that as your existing regime has been working much better for you this time round, it would be wise not to rush it so you have sufficient time to notice if you begin to lose your equilibrium again. Don't forget that your equipment choices will have had some effect through this time as you are presumably now using kit which suits you personally (in terms of delivering what you are comfortable with) probably better than the equipment you used as a novice.
I think it is certainly possible that you are now more addicted (or at least habituated) to the activity of vaping than you are dependent on the nicotine it supplies but would still be cautious about making more abrupt or rapid changes in case it provoked the kind of response you had before.
But still at the end of the day, the only person who can assess this has to be you. Whatever your ultimate objective, I wish you well with it and hope you feel a sense of achievement that your recent efforts do seem to have borne fruit for you. All best wishes, and apologies for what has ended up being a rather lengthy and wordy post!

Yeah today I'd vaped 2.5ml by lunch time so now using a combo of e-cig and plastic cig and it's fine... Have vaped about 0.5 ml since lunch...Yay... Aiming to get to about 3.5ml max....Know the peak crave time is within the first week - if it's disaster zone I'll be craving like a trouper in about 3 (so any day now from time before lasts reduction) so keeping an eye on it. With some higher strength on the table in case I need it ...NOt going back to cigs... Aiming to get off e-cigs altogether within about 6 months - maybe less... Jane

To be fair I've got to the stage whereby I'm not overly bothered about reducing my nic anymore , I started on 36mg and over the las 14 months have settled nicely with around 20 - 24 , I don't really crave the nic as such during the day unless my hands are idle , The only time I have come close to wanting a nasty was about a month ago when I had to change my van wheel on the hard shoulder of the motorway after a blow out , you can imagine how I was chain vaping when I got back in the cab . But seriously other than that I can go for hours without .
Good luck to you Jane if you are still wanting to decrease and maybe quit the nic once and for all , but I think for me other than the nic I am really loving the different flavours
Oh and Only last year I was a 40 a day smoker and now I'm on approx 2-3 ml 20-24 mg a day and that includes when I have a few beers

I'm finding the same, even though i've reduced the strength i can still get to a point where i feel i've had enough but still love to vape but i've stuck with the 5mg for a while now. I'm more addicted to vaping than the nic now. I put my E-Cig down somewhere and couldn't remember where and panicked, not because i needed the nic, i just wanted my E-Cig :-D
I've been pretty busy lately and about 2 this afternoon i thought i could just have a cig, haven't thought that in a long time......one vape and the thought disappeared.
Good to see your still dropping the mg.I wonder if you might reach a point were because you need zero nic you just won't bother to vape? Not sure what happens when people reach that stage.

Finally found my thread as kindly directed to by Perpy ....boy I never knew the intracies of the search before now... Anyhow latest on me is that I was on 14mg/ml for about 7 days and on Friday (bad day) decided to drop it. Had vaped a lot with the GB flavours (some stronger than others) so hence I dropped it. Tried 12mg (safe bet) - still too strong. So now on 10mg/ml... Zero throat hit on anything (don't mention the stardust LOL) but still. I figure I have to get over the lack of throat hit (which tells my brain I'm getting nic) and then go from there....we'll see...I'll keep you informed.... This is in less than 8 months from 36mg/ml so it just proves what can be done ....I did a very gradual reduction. I had lots of leaks....lots of tank modding and lots of fun on the way. I had an tailor made analog at a friend's yesterday and boy it hurt my throat. I think 36mg/ml would absolutely blow my head off now.. This is through all the stress and strain of my life. I have psychosis so life gets pretty ropey at times. I think it would be harder on some anti psychotics though I was on those when I was on 36mg/ml and it was fine..... I will always keep an e-cig in the house as a 'treat' - even if it's 0% nic. And I have loads of liquid as am going to be supplying my newbie vaper friends who don't have access to the net so easily as me.... So yeah...thanks go to SJ (my friend who recommended this forum), VapingDude (off UKV) who is like my local e-cig guru and got me into tanks ; Perpy, Chrissie and the lovely mods (through our highs and lows and they've been many) and of course GSB who said with regards to coming off cigs 'baby steps' - no judgement, no condemnation (Which is rare for the churches I go to) just lots of lovely secret silent prayer:) Jane

I need it more in the mornings Jane afternoons I don't much bother, now find that the 8mg just makes me cough, so will keep reducing it down and eventually vape 0% nic, that is my goal anyway.

Wish I had read this thread last week bad week for me started on 18mg during day reducing to 10mg on evening last weekend decided to reduce to 10mg too much too soon for me and I was vaping 5ml plus a day bought some 24mg and some more 18mg is on its way. Yesterday first day on the 24mg I vaped 1.6ml of the 24mg and 1ml of 10mg I found that mornings are my main vaping time as I must be topping up the nic from being off it all night imo this is a pure indicator for me that I still have a nicotine addiction, but no biggy for me as I moved to vaping as an alternative to smoking but if I can reduce nic then that's an added bonus better easier way than NRT that as failed many times in the past . Wish you good luck Jane what ever makes you happy has got to be a good thing x

The 10mg/ml from the 14mg/ml after only 7 days = bad move!!!......Am ditching all my bottles and making up two bottles......
One blackcurrant - 58/42 mix for my tank (or even 60/40)...and one cappuccino with a drop of cherry 80/20......
Nightmare!!!!

Its been over a year now since i started on 24mg and i am now down to 4mg .Done it gradually by mixing my own juice and using vv mods mainly at 4.5/5 volts .I tried a tornado tank yesterday and it did nothing for me but as soon as i use a more powerfull e cig mod no probs .There are huge benifits to using an e cig no smelly clothes ect even my cat will still sit on my knee when i vape as before he just jumped off .My goal is to reduce down to 0mg but i doubt i will ever give up ???? .

Just over a week ago I was smoking about 15-20 rolly's a day, and a 1 pack of tailor made's a week, the tester bottles I got are 18 and 20mg, and I don't feel as if I get much of a hit off them, but I can live with it. All the flavours are tasting really sweet though, too sweet, hence i keep switching like mad betweeen them, doing about 2-3 ml a day. Hard to tell with all the swapping about LoL Would a more powerfull mod cure the sweetness issue?

I seem to be different from lots of other vapers in that I like my hits to get stronger as the day goes on. Personally I just stick to 24mg (or more) but probably vape a bit less than I did to start with, so I go for a good hit less often than more weaker ones. It may be something to do with the fact that I used to smoke cigars and rarely smoked before I'd been up for an hour or so.
