sorry to diverge from the subject in hand but has the latest smock cube 160w been proven to have naff TC too??? or are the smock comments ment for th M80 Xpro?? cheers I don't know, but my comment was about the M80, but these days I won't spend with a company that got it that wrong in that area of expertise anyway. This iJoy looks like they are trying to do the same thing

I haven't spent my money just yet. I'm waiting for the reviews to start coming through. It does seem the chatter is building on this one though. As you say we the vapers have been burned too many times from manufacturers claiming the earth and not delivering. From what I have read though, this unit is operating in a different way to others. In that it is not trying to tell you what the temperature is. You appear to set the watts to the taste you want, then swap to temperature control. As the juice runs out it stops the mod from burning the wick. So it could be dubbed Taste Control rather than temp control, but we wait and see what the reviewers say. However they do it, it just needs to work.

This is a question for you techie people. I found a thread on Vapingunderground about this mod, and the following statement, " ...we use Frequency conversion control instead of voltage control, more than 99% conversion of power that makes the battery much more durable...". Would anyone like to expand on how this is different to the usual methods employed in temperature control? The whole thread can be found HERE. While the mod seems to be out in the USA, I have yet to see it for sale in the usual China outlets or in the UK. The price in the USA seems to be around $159, so would expect around £110ish in the UK, and maybe about £90 from China. While expensive, if it does what it says it does it may be worth the investment. The problem I see at the moment is people either claim it is impossible to achieve, and therefore marketing hype, or general disbelief that they have achieved it. Nobody seems to have a definitive answer, that it doesn't work or it does. Any of you guys with inside contacts fancy getting a sample to review?

Someone said 'slap some fancy words on it and it'll sell'. Varying the frequency? A coil will behave as an inductor, the resistance will rise with the frequency. Or are they just trying to reinvent PWM?? The Chinese struggle with the english language. Now they're trying to add science and engineering into the language mix.

I smell You may be right Greg but nobody seems to have one yet, so all views are speculation. I'm surprised that IJoy have been touting this mod for a couple of months now, but there is a dearth of reviews, and no customer feedback, on how well, or not, they work. For such a supposed big leap forward in vaping technology, you would think they would be shouting from the roof tops with this one.

Balme YiHi they are big on frequency control or pulse frequency modulation for temp mode output, but the only explanation I can come up with for them not being capably of getting it to work with DC output as if it had any advantage surly they would use it for Kanthal mode to. It;s spreading, I think all the IPV use it to.
And it has nothing to do with temp sensing, just a cheap way of varying the voltage conversion.

I guess with this one the proof will out when it gets more people testing and reviewing. The methods being used don't seem to be forthcoming from IJoy, so at the moment it's just guesswork. While I have seen it advertised in the USA it doesn't seem to be on general release yet. Just rumour and speculation, so it's difficult to see the wood for the trees.
