Am I missing something here, or is it just pot luck adjusting the airflow?..........There's no visible indication of where the inside holes are..........

I take the ring off and then visually figure out where the largest setting is in relation to the engraving. On mine, the H of CHALICE is where it is at the widest. I seldom adjust it, so thats that for me...but you can also just suck through it while moving the ring to get a good feel

Yes the air hole at the top after the coil (which adjusts the vacuum) you can't see when built so adjust while pulling on it, taste. The inlet airhole (before the coil in the chamber) will be in the wrong place, done 5 now, two of my own and 3 for @spikeyfridge. They were all different and all out. The piece where the hole is push fit (as I was informed by blakey) punch it out, mark where your coil will be (the larger part if the deck) then push fit it back in again with the inlet airhole in that position. Hope that makes sense..?

Had that problem of the air hole inside not lining up properly, tried getting the insert out like letsavit describes but it wouldn't shift. I solved the problem by sanding the bottom of the the middle section, didn't need a lot. If you take the top part off you can look through the top of the middle section while deck is attached you can see the airhole inside if it's lined up between the posts or not. Just sand the bottom of the middle section a little on a flat surface, attach it back on to the deck part check the alignment, if still off sand a little more and repeat until it lines up.

I've just checked mine & the air hole does line up perfectly with the coil position.........But I may reposition it anyway, as it'll be easier to coil it with the coil on the opposite side.......There's more room to manouver.......Not particularly impressed with it so far...I only bought it to fit my Reo, but I reckon the Zenith beats all the others hands down........I've a good mind to chop the top off the 510 on the Reo, so that I can use 22mm atties on it.

Seems to me, it's a lot of faffing about with the Chalice.........Not helping, that I'm getting a load of dry hits either, which is reason enough to lob it in the general direction of the bin.......I'm glad it's only an FT one.... "Life...........is just a bowl of tricks!!!!!!"

"Life...........is just a bowl of tricks!!!!!!" Sounds like a non starter to me. I'm glad I read this thread. I have far more to do than faffing around with mysteriously placed holes. You don't need to mess around - just remove the AFC ring. I can't imagine anyone wanting less air than the maximum. OK, mine is coiled at 0.421 ohms...
