Hi all, I am having some problems with various vape gear at the moment but today I'm going to focus on the magma lol
I am new to dripping so please go easy!
I am using a magma clone an open coil with cotton reading 1.9 on the istick 30 at 9w. Problem is after watching you tube, I placed my cotton, closed the airflow down as I like a tight draw, dropped about 10 drops into the well. The draw and flavor is very harsh. I'm getting far too much flavour so much so that it tastes of pure sugar and is very hard on my chest to the point of not being able to inhale it and having a coughing fit.
I don't like lung inhale so that's why I set the airflow to mouth to lung and im terrified of a dry hit. How often should I be dripping into the well, I've been spoiled by my tanks! And should it be leaking out if the air holes? I'm using 6mg as that's what I use in my rebuildable. I'm not getting that hiss that I get when using my tanks that lets me know the coil is firing correctly to vaporize the juice.
Sorry for the essay but with so many loving dripping and a ton of juice to sample, I was going to get this right!
Thanks in advance for any tips you may have:)

9w would be a bit high for me Mrsmac . . . . I'm currently on 5.6w iStick 30w 1.9ohm coil. Every 4-6 puffs I probably drip, difficult to be specific as dripping is one of those things done by instinct and feel for me.

Sounds like you've over dripped and drowned the coil, I would be tempted to coil a bit lower for a dripper round the 1 ohm mark and open the air a little. The magma has quite a small chamber for its size which produces quite intense flavour. Their are some that have cut a blunt mixing needle down and put it into the airholes rasing them a few mm. There is a post somewhere on here about it.
I'm unsure why its hurting your chest but it might be you need to drop mg to 3. In all honesty I'm not a fan of the magma. If you want a nice mtl dripper the aromizer by steamcrave is amazing. Not a cloud chasing dripper its pure flavour.

I think I maybe over dripping thinking about it especially with the taste and harsh hit. I may try a closed coil at some stage but wanted to make sure by got the wicking right first.
Coincidently the first juice I'm trying I think I may like so going to drop the watts and see if that helps.
If there are any other grippers folks know of suitable for mouth to lung and a single coil with not too much airflow please do recommend. For now, if I get the hang of this, I will be a very happy bunny lol

Mrsmac Did you set the airhole on the right side? Ie. directly underneath the coil and have the opposite side blocked off? On my magma a couple of times i've set the airflow ring to the wrong side and you get a really harsh vape... Recenty i've ditched the airflow ring altogeter and just have a wide open draw on both sides which is working great for me even with a single coil build in. But i've been learning to enjoy the joys of lung hits more recently

Thanks guys, sonicflowjoe, I think I have it right, I have one coil above one of the air holes. I must admit, I didn't close off the other side will need to give that a go next. I've rewicked.and turned down the wattage as Perpetua mentioned and it is much better. The damned airflow control is annoying though because every time I take the top off I have a hard time resetting where I was. I will try spinning the airflow again, I also put more cotton this time...In getting there! We are going to try lairey, I keep saying that I will bring a dripper to the meet lol I tell you what I will need though and that's another bottle of the co certified juice Mr Mac won, that's the juice I've been dripping...lovely stuff...and I don't do custard:)

That's it, I've done it thanks to you fine ladies and gentlemen! I rebuilt with a bit more cotton in the wells, turned down the watts a little and made sure the unused air hole is closed off...perfect I am one happy bunny! Now off to find a recipe for this juice I've been dripping as it is scrumptious!

Don't forget the dissie code! 120ml works out quite a bit cheaper if you know you're going to get through it!
