I've have a friend who as very generously lent me a dripper for the bank holiday weekend to see if I like it or not.

It's a steam crave v2 latest one, very nice it is too, He's single coiled it @ 1.8 for me (against his better judgement lol) and wicked it so I can see how it's done.

I'm supposed to vape it for a couple of days and then try to recoil and wick it myself. 

Thing is, The vape is feeling very harsh on the throat, which surprised me I must say. it has loads of flavour through the harshness, I'm using myvapery Hazelnut latte @ 12mg 50/50 (sample). I'm going to try my usual 9mg 50/50 when iv'e used this one. Could this be the problem?

The coil look very simple I have enough wire and cotton (He left me with some kit for tools) to have lot's of try's at it lol.
I'll Watch a few vid's on the tube as well.

Any help with any of this would be much appreciated.

It could be. It is more than likely 12mg is quite high nic to be drpping but @ 1.8 I'm not sure. Or it could be the wicking if the cotton is too loose in the coil it can cause a harsh vape.

My first point would be the nic is to high,

What mod you using? If vw/vv try lowering power?

MVP 30pro 15watts Tried it down to 10watts it helps but the flavour dull's a little but the harshness is still there

No problem with the flavour that on another level from what I'm used too

I'll try my first attempt at rewicking in the morning, then give the 9mg a go

MVP 30pro 15watts Tried it down to 10watts it helps but the flavour dull's a little but the harshness is still there

try lower nic level if you can...... I know sub ohm is different to dripping but I had to go from 12mg down to 6mg

The drip tip on this is humongous

50% PG is quite high for a dripper imo. If thats your normal mix, a 70vg 30pg might well tone down the harshness for you and as stated previously drop the nic content. If 9mg is your usual then go to 9 or even 6mg liquids on your dripper.

Looking at your image, it appears that this dripper is designed to be ran dual coil at higher power (2nd airhole, perhaps can be closed off, and the large airholes and wide bore drip tip indicate a high watts dripper design)

Another variable is the heat flux of the build you use. A thicker wire and lower resistance coil could well cool down the vape for you if you find it too warm.

The steamcrave is a very unique dripper as its pretty much a mouth to lung dripper which in this day is a rare beast.
I find its best around 1.2 -1 ohm range single coil as with 2 coils and its reduced airflow it can be really intense flavour wise.

Ok, 6mg is defiantly better no harshness and great flavour.

Tried my own coil too third attempt came out at 1.83ohm it vapes great @14w.

I'll try again later.

Did you manage to find a narrower drip tip for it?

Judging by what you've achieved there I reckon you shouldn't have too much trouble rewicking these 2 ohm isub coils when I get them sent back... soon hopefully

sonicflowjoe The dripper as gone back now . That one above was my only success,
I got a little frustrated with it in the end. So stepped away from it.
I have ordered a Velocity Styled RDA from fasteck, I'll practice on that when it arrives.
The Steam Crave is £32 just to much money for me, and then to not like the world of rebuilding. (find it very very fiddly)
With a proper build on it, as my mate did, it is without doubt a flavour machine.

There was a drip tip converter in the box which takes a 510 tip.

Not really big on dripping myself but I do enjoy it occasionally.

Got a magma clone which is nice and easy to set up and gives great flavour. For some strange reason though it has a really long 510 connection so to get it flush you really need a mech with decent adjustment to accommodate it.

Got a kayfun mini clone as well which is nice in dripper mode... good thing really as I can't get it to work in tank mode at all.

Hope the velocity works out ok for you. Will be good practice to hone your rebuilding skills anyway
